The climb of Santa Maria della Sanità in Genoa

La salita Santa Maria della Sanità a Genova

The Santa Maria della Sanità climb in Genoa.
Walking along the ring road above Genoa, along Corso Solferiono and then Corso Magenta, I turned my gaze (and my telephoto lens) on this beautiful climb that leads to a church (which I later discovered to be Santa Maria della Sanità).
As I read, it was probably a chapel of the beautiful Villa Gruber which is located to the right of the photo.

Here's where I took the photo from:

The complex stands on the site where previously in the 15th century there was a church dedicated to San Bernardino da Siena (hence the name of the stretch of walls and the nearby gate) at the behest of Stefano De Mari, owner of the land (as well as the adjacent current Villa Gruber, once De Mari). It was built in 1592 based on a design by Ponzelli and its management was entrusted to the Discalced Carmelites of S. Anna.
