The lizard, a common lizard in Italy.
The lizard is certainly one of the most common reptiles (or lizards) in Italy together with the gecko and the, more difficult to encounter, green lizard.
In my garden, before the arrival of Nicco (my dog) and especially the neighbors' cat, there were many; now unfortunately there are only a few left.
Here is one anyway with a nice macro.

They have a flat, triangular head, a flat trunk and a long tail; they are quadrupeds, even with non-visible legs (in Anguidae such as the slow worm), tiny ones (in Skinks such as the Long-nosed Skink) and external ears without an auricle (for the individual species see the Sauria Category).
