Tempura di Gamberi.
Un piattino, gustato in Thailandia (se ricordo bene), con qualche gambero in pastella (tempura per i sofisticati). La decorazione del piatto occupa praticamente piu’ spazio del soggetto principale, i gamberi.
Infatti era solo un contorno ad altre prelibatezze.

Per tradizione si fa risalire il piatto al secolo XVI, con i primi contatti tra i giapponesi e i marinai portoghesi e con i missionari cristiani. All’inizio di ogni stagione, i cristiani si astenevano dal cibarsi di carne per tre giorni (mercoledì, venerdì e sabato), mangiavano solo verdure e pesce e si dedicavano alla preghiera. Questi quattro periodi erano chiamati in latino Quattro tempora. Da qui il nome tempura, che i giapponesi utilizzano ancora oggi per questo piatto.
