Water lily, a splendid flower.
A very beautiful flower that is often used to embellish fountains and ponds.
I photographed this in the pond of a pagoda garden in Vietnam at the mouth of the Mekong.
I like the violet hue of this flower.

The inflorescence is formed by large, generally solitary, floating flowers. The length of the peduncle, with a round section, depends on the depth of the water. The flowers usually last a long time and open during the day only when the sky is clear.
