In Asia si trovano spesso questi ristoranti con braciere in mezzo al tavolo dove i commensali si cucinano per proprio conto il pasto.
In questo ristorante, in cui sono stato ormai un anno fa, avevamo scelto carne di manzo e polpo. Tutto piccante e tutto da cucinare!

The icon of the Sanctuary of Montallegro
One of the most beloved places of worship in my area, and perhaps in my region, is the Sanctuary of Montallegro, on the heights of Rapallo.
The symbol and emblem of this place is the effigy that according to legend was found in the spot where the apparition to the Rapallo farmer took place.
The original effigy is still in the sanctuary, in the photo, protected by angels.

Considered one of the main Marian sanctuaries in the metropolitan area of Genoa and Liguria, it was built by the people of Rapallo between 1557 and 1558, together with the adjoining shelter for pilgrims, after the apparition of the Virgin Mary on 2 July 1557 to the farmer Giovanni Chichizola. The current marble façade dates back to the renovation carried out by the Milanese architect Luigi Rovelli in 1896, and inaugurated with a solemn ceremony on 21 June of that year.

Le coste tra Riva Trigoso e Moneglia.
le Coste frastagliate della Liguria a Levante della mia cittadina sono spettacolari.
Qui, le ho fotografate dall’inizio della salita che porta alla torre di Punta Baffe.
Se fate bene attenzione potete anche vedere l’imboccatura di una delle gallerie (ex ferrovia) che congiungono le due cittadine, Moneglia e Riva Trigoso.

Galician-style octopus, the recipe.
One of the octopus dishes that I like to taste the most is boiled octopus prepared Galician-style, a typical Spanish dish. It is very quick and easy to prepare.
Ingredients for two people:
– one octopus
– 2/3 potatoes
– extra virgin olive oil
– coarse salt
– paprika
Preparation:
First, boil the potatoes; take a couple of potatoes (preferably three that are not too large), rinse them well under running water and cook them, with the peel, in a saucepan for half an hour. To know when they are ready, just pierce them with a knife to test their softness.
At the same time, cook the octopus. To tell the truth, in my trusted supermarket, I found some very good pre-cooked octopus at a convenient price. But if you buy frozen or fresh octopus, you will have to boil it for a good while, from an hour to two in lightly salted water.
Once the potatoes and octopus are cooked, cut the potatoes into slices and the octopus (aesthetically speaking, it is better with only the tentacles) into slices too.
Arrange the potatoes on the bottom, with the octopus on top; drizzle with plenty of olive oil and sprinkle with coarse salt and paprika powder.
I heat everything slightly in the microwave because I like the dish slightly warm.

Octopus is a very popular mollusc in professional and sport fishing. Fishing techniques are traditional and consist of using a bait called pulcina, which is sometimes used together with crabs and fish. Sometimes fresh octopus is prepared using the curling technique directly on the rocks or in special machines that allow it to be tasted raw. The curled octopus has tentacles in the shape of “curls”, dilated suckers and a characteristic “crunchy” consistency.

Le casette accovacciate di Manarola.
Più o meno una volta l’anno mi sposto alle Cinque Terre per fare un po’ di trekking sui bellissimi sentieri della zona.
A dire la verità, tra maggio e giugno mi è un pochino scappata di mano la situazione e facevo un paio di belle e lunghe camminate a settimana.
Per la prima volta sono riuscito a fare il pezzo che da Corniglia va a Manarola passando da Volastra.
Decisamente molto duro ma lo sforzo viene ripagato dalla splendida vista su Manarola e i vigneti che la circondano.

Beer is an alcoholic beverage obtained from the fermentation of malted barley wort, flavored and bittered with hops. Beer is one of the most widespread and oldest alcoholic beverages in the world. It is produced through the alcoholic fermentation with strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae or Saccharomyces carlsbergensis of sugars derived from starchy sources, the most used of which is barley malt, or germinated and dried barley, often simply called malt. Wheat, corn, rice are also used - the latter two especially as additions in industrially produced beers - and, to a lesser extent, oats, spelt, rye. Other less used plants are cassava root, millet and sorghum in Africa, potatoes in Brazil and agave in Mexico.

Passeggiando per la bella città di Chiavari non mi stanco mai di fotografare palazzi e portici.
Queste sono le case sul retro del carruggio Dritto, precisamente in piazza Verdi.
I colori accesi delle facciate che contrastano con il nero dell’ardesia delle colonne che reggono gli archi dei portici mi strabiliano sempre.

Ecco dove si trova questa piazzetta:
Eliska, la statua che era a Sestri Levante.
Per diversi mesi, sulla terrazza che sporge sul mare aperto, è stata esposta questa opera dello scultore ligure Leonardo Lustig.
Purtroppo, se adesso la cercate non la troverete più in quello spazio ma è altrove (e purtroppo non so dirvi dove).
Era una bella opera che sembrava volersi lanciare nel mare.
Se non siete riusciti a vederla ve la mostro io così com’era.

The little square of Vernazza
I couldn't say which is more beautiful, this little square or the other very famous little square in the village of Portofino.
The one in Vernazza, however, is not bad at all.
This photo was taken in early June from the path coming from Monterosso.

La pista ciclabile a Riva Trigoso.
Il nuovo (anche se ormai sono già un paio d’anni) fronte a mare della frazione di Sestri Levante è diventato un fiore all’occhiello per il mio comune.
Le case lungo la nuova passeggiata sono tutte nel tipico stile e colore ligure e anche il rosso della pista ciclabile non stona!
Hai mai pensato di acquistare una bicicletta elettrica per percorrere queste brevi ma carine piste ciclabili? Nel nostro comune ci sono chilometri di strade ciclabili. Dai un’occhiata ai prezzi delle migliori biciclette su Amazon.
