The ridge to the east from Punta Baffe

The ridge to the east from Punta Baffe.
Several months ago I took this beautiful walk along the path that goes from Riva Trigoso to Punta Baffe. Once I reached the tower I decided to return by climbing a little more and then passing by Villa Manierta.
When I reached the highest point of my route I took this beautiful photo of the first ridge and all those that stand out to the east.
The last one could be that of Punta Mesco.

La spiaggia di Renà a Riva Trigoso

La spiaggia di Renà a Riva Trigoso.
Un paio di settimane fa, dopo mesi che me lo riproponevo, sono andato a fare qualche foto e video nella spiaggia di Renà.
La spiaggia, per chi non lo sapesse, è l’ultima a Levante del comune di Sestri Levante.
Probabilmente è anche la meno privatizzata del comune; intendo che non ci sono stabilimenti balneari numerosi come a Sestri ma forse solo uno fisso ed un paio di spiagge libere attrezzate.
C’è poca sabbia e quasi tutti sassi.
Il mare qui sa essere davvero esuberante e quasi ogni anno qualche mareggiata porta via i muraglioni che proteggono le case e la strada.

Focaccia al formaggio con prosciutto crudo

Focaccia al formaggio con prosciutto crudo.
La classica, probabilmente, è la più buona ma anche le variazioni sono eccezionali.
Come in questo caso nel quale alla classica focaccia al formaggio d.o.p. si aggiunge del prosciutto crudo (se non sbaglio anche questo d.o.p.). Un connubio davvero eccezionale: il salato del prosciutto e il gusto dello Stracchino e della focaccia.
Gustata a Recco nella Pizzeria del Ponte che fa parte del Consorzio Focaccia di Recco.

Ed eccovi anche il video di come si prepara la vera focaccia al formaggio a Recco nella stessa pizzeria:

Si narra che grazie alla possibilità di disporre di olio, formaggetta e farina, cuocendo la pasta ripiena di formaggio su una pietra d’ardesia coperta, venne “inventato” quel prodotto gastronomico che oggi conosciamo come “Focaccia di Recco col Formaggio”.

I Ciottoli della Chiesa di Santa Sabina a Trigoso.
Una delle tradizioni artistiche più note in Liguria è quella detta risseu cioè l’uso di pietre del mare per fare dei mosaici nei sagrati delle chiese.
Questo è il sagrato, restaurato un paio di anni fa, della chiesa di Trigoso (Santa Sabina).
E’ veramente spettacolare.

L’origine di questa tecnica è incerta, alcuni propendono per un’origine molto antica, proveniente addirittura dalle civiltà mesopotamiche, che si snoda in un continuum storico dall’antica Assiria (significativi i ritrovamenti della città e delle pavimentazioni di Ziyaret Tepe in Turchia), attraverso la Grecia (ad esempio le decorazioni presenti sull’isola di Simi e nel monastero di Kalopetra a Rodi) da cui poi sarebbe giunta a Genova attraverso gli scambi commerciali.

The former Coop houses in Sestri Levante

The former Coop houses (in the sense that the Coop used to be on the ground floor, not that they were built by the Coop) in Sestri Levante.
I still remember when these futuristic houses with the oblique mirrored facade were built.
The cooperative no longer exists, but there is still a large warehouse.

The Arch of Victory in Genoa

The Arch of Victory in Genoa.
Every time, or almost, that I have to go to the center of Genoa (for work or pleasure) I almost always park in Piazza della Vittoria and, always, I see this beautiful arch that dominates the entire square.
This time, since I was there for pleasure, I had my camera and, thanks to the clear sky, I took several photos of this real Arch of Triumph.
It is certainly also one of the best-known monuments in Genoa.

The Arch of Victory, also known as the Monument to the Fallen or the Arch of the Fallen, is an imposing triumphal arch, built during the fascist regime, located in Piazza della Vittoria in Genoa. It is dedicated to the Genoese who fell during the First World War and was inaugurated on May 31, 1931.

Villa or castle in Santa Margherita Ligure.
Taking a nice walk between Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino, last summer, you come across this beautiful villa (which is perhaps a castle) just outside the city center of Santa.
Overlooking the sea and truly spectacular.
I tried to look for a name or a story but I couldn't find anything about it.

Update: A friend of my mother, Bruna G., wrote to me, which is the annex of Villa Lo Faro; the villa is further up that road and is next to the Regina Elena hotel.

Cancello sulla Baia del Silenzio.
A dire la verità il cancello, come si vede facilmente, è un ingresso secondario dell’Hotel Helvetia che domina la baia.
Mi piace sempre fotografare questo cancello con quella tendina bianca e gialla con le case sullo sfondo.

Pizza prosciutto olive e bufala

Pizza prosciutto olive e bufala.
Io mangio quasi sempre la pizza al prosciutto (cotto) più olive.
E’ da diverso tempo però che ho quasi sempre in casa una mozzarella di bufala (o una burrata) che amo aggiungere alla pizza (comprata da asporto).
La poggio nel mezzo solo per la foto ma poi la taglio e dispongo armoniosamente!
Buonissima con l’aggiunta!

Ah, dimenticavo, la pizza è dei Due Gabbiani.

Villa Bo Scribanti a Sestri Levante

Villa Bo Scribanti a Sestri Levante.
Ho trovato questa villa lungo la strada che porta alla chiesa di Santo Stefano del Ponte e cercando ho scoperto che dovrebbe essere la casa in cui è morto Angelo Scribanti un noto accademico ed ingegnere vissuto a cavallo del ‘800 e ‘900.
Davvero molto bella.

Nasce a Cicagna, un paese nella Val Fontanabuona, nell’entroterra genovese, il 31 marzo 1868. Suo padre, Paolo Scribanti, è piemontese, di Gattinara in provincia di Vercelli, mentre la madre è una Bo di Sestri Levante, parente di Angelo Bo (1801-1874).
