The central via Galata in Genoa

The central Via Galata in Genoa.
Located near the modern center of the city, between the Brignole train station, Via San Vincenzo and Via Venti Settembre, this street is one of the most seen by commuters who reach the many offices in the center from the station.
The name of the street, Galata, recalls one of the neighborhoods of the Turkish city of Istanbul; Turks who had a large community in Genoa.

The current neighborhood, formerly known as “Pera” and founded by the Genoese, is developed on a hill overlooking the sea, surrounded by narrow streets and alleys (almost carruggi), on which stands the Galata Tower, on whose entrance a historical inscription commemorates Genoa. Despite many earthquakes, it has never collapsed and today it is a tourist destination for the view that can be enjoyed over the entire old part of Istanbul from its summit terrace.
