Some bamboo canes in Villa Rocca in Chiavari.
With all the connections I have with Asia (and Vietnam in particular) you will say that I took this photo on one of my trips to the East, but no.
This dense, although not very large, forest of bamboo canes is right near where I live and forms the border to the park of Villa Rocca in Chiavari.

Most bamboo species are native to Asia (where they reach the northern limit of their range at 50° N latitude) and America (where they reach 47° S in Chile). They can be found at variable altitudes, up to 3000 m in the Himalayas. Some species are spontaneous in Africa (particularly in sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar) and in Oceania. There are no spontaneous species in Europe.

The street called Sansone in Genoa

Via dei Sansone in Genoa.
Wandering around the Carignano neighborhood you also come across areas of modern apartment buildings as Genoa is used to: narrow alleys and apartment buildings.
Continuing along this little street you arrive at the oldest part of the street where there is a beautiful creuza.

Matteotti square from the Villa Rocca park in Chiavari.
One of the most classic views of Piazza Matteotti, one of the main ones in Chiavari, is from the belvedere that leads to the Villa Rocca park.
Unfortunately I didn't have a telephoto lens with me but only a wide angle so the quality suffered slightly.
I think it was a nice shot anyway!

The view from the Montaldo viewpoint in Genoa.
Some time ago now I was, for the first time, in the Castelletto neighborhood in Genoa.
One of the most beautiful points of the neighborhood is its viewpoint from which you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the city.
On that day, even though there was a lot of fog, I also took some photos with very beautiful colors at sunset.

The Montaldo viewpoint is connected to the Portello square by a public lift, which entered into service in 1910, whose arrival station is housed in a characteristic Art Nouveau glass kiosk.

La Cattedrale di Maria Santissima Achiropita

La Cattedrale di Maria Santissima Achiropita.
Lo scorso anno sono stato a Rossano in Calabria e, forse, l’edificio più importante di questa cittadina è la sua Cattedrale.
All’interno la famosa immagine Achiropita della Madonna. Questa parola che deriva dal greco significa non disegnata da mano cioè creata da qualcosa o qualcuno non umano.

La storia dell’Achiropita è legata alla leggenda del monaco eremita Efraim che nell’anno 570 d.C. in un campo vicino ad una grotta (zona San Nicola in Vallone) trovò un’immagine miracolosa della Vergine e da lì iniziò il culto.

Surf nella spiaggia di Recco

Surf nella spiaggia di Recco.
Ormai anche in Liguria ci sono diversi tratti di mare che, in alcuni periodi dell’anno e con le adeguate condizioni meteo-marine, sono adatte al surf.
Ora, prendete questa parola con le pinze: per quello che ne so io ne vedremo poche di gare internazionali da queste parti però, credo che per un appassionato, possa andare bene anche il Mar Ligure.
Fino ad ora io ho visto surfisti a Sestri Levante, a Levanto, a Genova Nervi e ora anche qui a Recco.
La foto è stata scattata lo scorso ottobre.

Polline nell’aria.
Ho cercato di fare il massimo per far sì che le particelle pelose svolazzanti nell’aria si vedessero ma non è facile.
Anche se questa foto è stata scattata un anno fa anche oggi ci siamo appena lasciati alle spalle gran parte dei pollini stagionali.

I granuli di polline hanno una particolare parete costituita da sporopollenina un polimero estremamente resistente e stabile che protegge i pollini durante il loro viaggio dagli stami al pistillo nelle angiosperme, o dal cono maschile al conofemminile nelle gimnosperme. Se il polline cade su un pistillo o cono femminile compatibile, germina producendo un tubetto pollinico che trasferisce il gamete maschile all’ovulo al cui interno è contenuto il gamete femminile.

Un pesce in un tempio in Vietnam

Un pesce in un tempio in Vietnam.
L’ultima volta che sono stato in Vietnam, ormai troppo tempo fa, ho fatto centinaia (se non migliaia) di foto ed alcune le devo ancora pubblicare.
Come questa di un pesce il Gurami Gigante (anche se ammetto di non essere sicuro della specie) in un tempio lungo la foce del fiume Mekong.
Era veramente enorme!

Questa specie è diffusa nel sud-est asiatico (Sumatra, Borneo, Giava, Thailandia – bacino del Mekong). Del tutto assente in Sarawak. Diversi paesi stanno introducendo questo pesce per acquacoltura.

Una casa sul mare verso Genova Nervi.
Chiunque abbia percorso la strada lungo il mare che dal centro va verso Levante di Genova, arrivando nella delegazione di Nervi avrà visto questo palazzo e la piccola veranda affacciato sul mare.
