The little arches between the buildings in the alley of Rapallo
The little arches between the buildings in the Rapallo alley.
Even in the Rapallo alley, in one of the many alleys that lead to the side streets, these beautiful little arches that connect the houses appear.
I still haven't understood if they have a static or aesthetic function, maybe one of the readers can write it to me in the comments.
Update: they are called slam arches and have the function of helping the static nature of buildings especially if they are a short distance from each other.

Caruggio or Carruggio, (a word that in the “official spelling” of Genoese should be written (Caroggio and pronounced Caruggiu, because in Ligurian the O is pronounced U), is the term used to indicate a street or alley, even a portico, typical of Ligurian historic centers. The term derives from the Latin quadrivium, or from the more popular quadruvium.
