Una delle porte più spettacolari di Genova anche se coperta da queste piante rampicanti che comunque ne caratterizzano l’aspetto.

Essa sorgeva poco sopra il complesso conventuale di Santa Caterina di Portoria (il quale sorge dietro il Tribunale nella zona di Pammatone, da non confondere con il convento di Santa Caterina di Luccoli che sorgeva nell’omonima salita), e rappresentava l’ingresso del quartiere di Portoria.
