Caruggio or Carruggio, (a word that in the “official spelling” of Genoese should be written (Caroggio and pronounced Caruggiu, because in Ligurian the O is pronounced U), is the term used to indicate a street or alley, even a portico, typical of Ligurian historic centers. The term derives from the Latin quadrivium, or from the more popular quadruvium.

I took a lot of photos in the town of Rapallo and you can find almost all of them in this page or by searching in the various articles specific to the Ligurian city.

A Rapallo non usavamo il termine “struscio”… Da noi si diceva…fare le “vasche” in Via Mazzini ❤
