Il mosaico della Madonna in trono col Bambino

Il mosaico della Madonna in trono col Bambino fra i santi Gennaro e Restituta a Napoli.
Il Duomo di Napoli, oltre ad essere splendido di per sé, ingloba anche un’altra basilica quella di Santa Restituita.
Di quest’altra chiesa ho fotografato lo splendido (secondo me) mosaico dell’abside realizzato da Lello da Orvieto.

La quinta e sesta cappella della navata sinistra costituiscono infine un unico ambiente assieme allo spazio presbiteriale che segue. Questo ambiente è dedicato alla Madonna del Principio ed ha nell’abside il mosaico della Madonna in trono col Bambino fra i santi Gennaro e Restituta realizzato nel 1322 da Lello da Orvieto.

Lucca vista dal campanile della chiesa

Lucca vista dal campanile della chiesa dei Santi Giovanni e Reparata.
L’ultima volta che sono stato a Lucca sono salito sul campanile della chiesa dei Santi Giovanni e Reparata e, dal punto più alt che ho potuto raggiungere, ho fotografato la splendida cittadina toscana con i sui bellissimi tetti di tegole di terracotta ed le sue molte torri e campanili.

The village of Manarola, one of the Cinque Terre.
The splendid village of Manarola overlooking the Ligurian Sea. The colorful houses perched on the rocky spur that plunges into the sea and the boats pulled up with the winch to spend the winter season.

Manarola, like the other Cinque Terre, is squeezed between the Ligurian Sea and the steep mountain range that separates from the Apennines near Monte Zatta and descends in a south-east direction, acting as a watershed between the Val di Vara and the coastal area. The village is located in the final stretch of the Groppo torrent valley.

The Cathedral of San Martino in Lucca

The Cathedral of San Martino in Lucca.
The beautiful Cathedral of the city of Lucca. To tell the truth, for the first two times I had been in the city, I thought that the most important church was San Michele in Foro but thanks to the beautiful television program Meraviglie – La penesola dei tesori by Alberto Angela I discovered the importance and beauty of this church that I promptly went to visit!

The main façade, oriented towards the west, is supported by the portico-narthex opening onto the square by three large arches, one of which is narrower due to the proximity of the pre-existing bell tower. Guidetto and his collaborators created bas-reliefs with the martyrdom of Saint Regolo depicted in the lunette above the entrance to the right nave, a cycle of the months and stories of Saint Martin.

Mèzzema is a hamlet of 109 inhabitants in the municipality of Deiva Marina, on the La Spezia Riviera, in the province of La Spezia. About 4 km from the municipal capital, it is located 199 meters above sea level.

Clothes hanging out to dry in via dei Tribunali in Naples.
The characteristic alley in the historic center of Naples decorated with clothes hanging out to dry (especially in the initial part of the street) that go from one building to the one in front.
At this point it is clearly a gimmick to welcome tourists but (as also happens in Genoa) in the alleys of the historic centers they are often seen and are actually used to hang out clothes.

Today the decumanus maggiore is one of the most important streets in the historic center of Naples (declared a World Heritage Site in 1995) and corresponds to today's via dei Tribunali, still following the ancient Greek road axis entirely. Precisely because it is a road structure originating from ancient Greece, it would be more appropriate to speak of plateia and not of "decumanus", a name from the Roman era that by convention has replaced the original.

Il bel caruggio di Lavagna, che in realtà toponicamente si chiama via Roma, con i suoi bei palazzi e negozietti che ti fanno ancora respirare l’aria del piccolo borgo marinaro ligure.

I palazzi di via Venti Settembre visti dall’alto

Palazzi di via Venti Settembre a Genova visti dal sagrato di Santo Stefano.
Tutte le volte che posso, quando mi trovo in via XX, salgo un momento alla chiesa di Santo Stefano a fotografare la via ed i palazzi dall’alto.
Non tutti sanno che andando in salita in via XX, appena dopo al Ponte Monumentale, c’è una piccola scalinata (che non promette niente di buono) che porta alla chiesa di Santo Stefano, splendida, e al sagrato che in realtà altro non è che un terrazzo sulla via centrale.

La Chiesa Parrocchiale N.S. Della Neve di La Spezia

La Chiesa Parrocchiale N.S. Della Neve di La Spezia.
Girovagando alla scoperta della Spezia ho trovato questa bella chiesa che purtroppo però era chiusa in quel momento e non ne ho potuto vedere l’interno.
Da fuori però mi ha impressionato per i colori e, informandomi poi, sulla storia (leggenda) legata alla sua fondazione (che vi spiego brevemente più sotto).

In un’abitazione fuori dalle mura di cinta, a poca distanza da Porta Biassa, vi era una casa al cui interno era custodita un dipinto su legno, rappresentante la Beatissima Vergine.
Un giorno il torrente Lagora straripò a causa delle copiose piogge invadendo d’acqua anche la casa che custodiva la preziosa effigie. In mezzo a tanta distruzione solo una cosa si salvò: proprio la sacra immagine della Nostra Signora della Neve.
