The stone house behind Piazza dei Pescatori in Chiavari
Just behind Piazza dei Pescatori, right at the beginning of Via Valparaiso, in Chiavari there is this old stone house, a little run down but with its own charm.

Obviously in fascist style this building in the center of Chiavari makes a fine show of itself. Unfortunately I have not been able to find much about the initial purpose of the building and what it hosted during the period of black glories.
If anyone has something to add to explain this building it will be welcome in the comments.

Once past Piazza Garibaldi, we can continue along Via Vittorio Veneto to Piazza Roma: in this area we find interesting Art Nouveau and Art Deco facades and interiors, and the small Palazzo delle Esposizioni, now in private use, which represents another interesting example of rationalist architecture.

The beach of Chiavari
Resuming a post from a few days ago (The beach in front of Colonia Fara) I'm posting some more photos of the beaches and the sea in Chiavari.
These are made a little more to the West than the previous one.
The one that runs along the port, right in front of the fountain, is missing (which is perhaps the most popular), but I must admit that, perhaps thanks to the splendid day and the young time of day, the water was a spectacle.
Yes it's true: maybe those piers and rock dams aren't very aesthetic and probably also cause the water to stagnate a bit but I'll leave it up to you to judge (especially the second one).

La spiaggia di fronte alla Colonia Fara a Chiavari.
Chiavari non è certo una cittadina ligure famosa per le spiagge ma comunque anche qui ci sono zone dove sembra bello farsi un bel tuffo.
Questa è la spiaggetta che sta tra la Colonia Fara, la costruzione fascista ristrutturata recentemente, e la piazzetta dei Pescatori (che però mi sa che si chiama Piazza Davide Gagliardo).
Non sarebbe stato proprio male farsi un bagnetto…

Cattedrale di Chiavari addobbata.
Nei primi giorni di luglio cade la festa patronale della Nostra Signora dell’Orto, la cattedrale di Chiavari.
In questa foto in hdr, che avevo scattato per l’occasione, la chiesa illuminata ed addobbata per l’occasione.

La chiesa fu eretta dopo la miracolosa apparizione della Vergine Maria il 2 luglio 1610 nella zona dove un tempo sorgevano gli orti – da cui deriverebbe la denominazione Madonna dell’Orto – al concittadino Sebastiano Descalzo. Nel luogo dell’apparizione era già presente un pilone raffigurante la Madonna con i santi Sebastiano e Rocco, eretto dai chiavaresi per scongiurare la malattia della peste che afflisse la cittadella nel 1493 e nel 1528.

La ruota panoramica di Chiavari.
Passando ieri a Chiavari ho notato, direte facile notarlo, la ruota panoramica che fa bella mostra di se ad inizio passeggiata.
Mi piaceva il contrasto tra la statua, la ruota e il cielo nuvoloso.

Una foto molto particolare scattata ieri pomeriggio da Santa Giulia sulle alture di Lavagna. L’effetto particolare è dato dai raggi di sole che filtravano dalle nuvole. Peccato per la poca nitidezza delle città. Ovviamente un po’ di hdr ha aiutato.
