Some statues on board the Ex Costa Firenze. When I was on board the Costa Firenze a couple of years ago I took some photos of some of the statues that were there. Dante and especially these two of a girl walking her dog (which were at the Sunset Bar) that reminded me so much of my wife walking our pitbull.

Bread statues prepared on board the ship. Every now and then the on-board bakers amaze us with these bread creations that embellish the Buffet or, when it happens, the Buffet Magnifico. They are true edible works of art even if in the end they are among the most photographed things!

An excellent michetta with mortadella eaten on the ship. Some time ago, on the ship, Chef Biagio decided to prepare fresh michetta and what could be better to fill them with than the equally excellent mortadella?

In much of Italy there is a bread that follows its shape (usually without the central cap and not without crumb, called rosetta); the "prestinai" who produce this type of bread are few because, in addition to requiring particular familiarity and commitment, the michetta weighs very little and therefore, based on the weight of the bread produced, its production requires a relatively high level of manpower: this results in a relatively high price compared to other forms of bread that, over time, have become more commonly consumed. The Costa Diadema in the Geiranger fjord. Until a few months ago I was on board the Costa Diadema (of Costa Crociere) doing fjord cruises. Among the most beautiful cruises there could be (not in the heat). In these two images the ship was "parked" in front of the town of Geiranger which is located right at the end of the fjord of the same name, the one famous for the Seven Sisters and Pretender waterfalls.

The former Costa Firenze in port in Funchal. When I was working on the former Costa Firenze last year I took lots of photos of the ship from the various ports I went out to. For a sailor, especially a Costa Crociere one like me, the yellow funnel is a point of reference when you go out for a walk. I took these photos from the Fort of St. James (Fortaleza de São Tiago) in Funchal on the Portuguese island of Madeira.

The Costa Diadema seen from the streets of Stavanger. Until a few months ago I was on board the Costa Diadema (of Costa Crociere) doing fjord cruises. After many years I went out for a walk in the colorful neighborhood of Fargegaten (which I absolutely didn't remember) and from there the yellow chimney of the ship was sticking out.

When the sea is rough while sailing. Those who decide to take a cruise must always take into account that the ship is on the sea and the weather is always unpredictable. It doesn't matter if you are in the immense Ocean or in the more reassuring Adriatic Sea: when nature decides to raise the wind and the waves start to increase, the ship begins to rock. No problem though: modern ships are so large (and have stabilization systems) that the wave motion makes them move very little compared to the past! but they do move a little! What to do? Don't think about it too much and let yourself be lulled by the movement!
I took these photos last year from my ex Costa Firenze.

The yellow funnel of the Costa Diadema in Bergen. A few months ago I was on board the splendid Costa Diadema (of Costa Crociere) in Northern Europe and, as I often do, I took a photo from the town of the iconic yellow funnel with the blue “C” symbol of the company I work for.

An excellent Angus fillet enjoyed on board the ex Costa Firenze. When I manage to eat at the steakhouse on board one of our ships I always order the fillet because it is the cut of meat that I love the most. Don't these photos make your mouth water?
And it's just one of the many culinary offerings of Costa Crociere (here to see some).
