The square of the Abbey of Santo Stefano in Genoa.
This church is in the heart of industrious Genoa; right in the center above via XX Settembre.
I'm copying and pasting a post from a few months ago because the photo was taken in mid-November.
It is enough, at the height of the Ponte Monumentale, to climb a few steps and you arrive on this terrace with the splendid church on one side and the beautiful noble buildings of via Venti on the other.

The church of Santo Stefano (or abbey of Santo Stefano) is one of the most famous Christian places of worship in Genoa, and its parish community is part of the Vicariate of Carignano – Foce of the archdiocese of Genoa. Situated on a hill overlooking the central Via XX Settembre, it was one of the most significant examples of Romanesque architecture in the Ligurian capital. Christopher Columbus was baptized in this church and it is believed that the young Balilla was also baptized.

Via XX Settembre è una strada che ha avuto un’origine controversa. Fu fortemente voluta dal sindaco Andrea Podestà, ma osteggiata da parte della popolazione residente poiché per costruirla fu necessario procedere a pesanti demolizioni di case e negozi. Soprattutto furono contrari i religiosi della chiesa del Rimedio, espropriati per far passare l’arteria.

The Soprana Gate from the street of the same name

Porta Soprana

Soprana gate from the street of the same name.
Probably the most famous portal of the Superba also because it is close to Columbus' house.
It was one of the access points to the city; that part of the city that is now the historic center.
The photo was taken from the street of the same name that goes from the gate to the cathedral of San Lorenzo.
Still very well preserved and I recommend you pass under it to enter the alleys!

Porta Soprana

The Gate also called Porta di Sant’Andrea (in Ligurian Pòrta de Sant’Andria) was one of the entrance gates to the city of Genoa. Among the main medieval stone architectures of the Ligurian capital, it is located on the top of the Piano di Sant’Andrea, from which it takes its name.

Lion in San Lorenzo in Genoa.
The most important church in Liguria is also the most majestic. This is one of the two lions that guard the front steps.
A couple of days ago I had a free hour and I used it to take some photos of you.
And this is one of the classic shots of this wonder that I slightly corrected in color.

The Cathedral of San Lorenzo is the most important place of Catholic worship in the city of Genoa, the metropolitan cathedral of the archdiocese of the same name. It was consecrated to the saint in 1118 by Pope Gelasius II when it was not yet finished and the facade was missing.

La Abbazia di Santo Stefano a Genova.
Questa chiesa è nel cuore della Genova laboriosa; in pieno centro sopra a via XX Settembre.
E’ sufficiente, all’altezza del Ponte Monumentale, salire qualche gradino e si arriva su questa terrazza con da un lato la splendida chiesa e dall’altro i bei palazzi nobiliari di via Venti.

The beautiful Piazza Banchi in the ancient heart of Genoa.
I am copying the text of another article because the photo is practically the same but taken with a different lens.
This is one of the most famous squares in the historic center of Genoa.
In the background the church of San Pietro in Banchi and on the left the Loggia delle Mercanzie. In the middle of the square the old dehors with used newspapers and books.

The Loggia della Mercanzia (also known as the Loggia di Banchi or Loggia dei Mercanti) is one of the most representative buildings in the historic center of Genoa. It is located in this square, on the corner with Via San Luca, in the ancient sestiere della Maddalena, not far from the church of San Pietro in Banchi, in the commercial heart of the old city.

Palazzo Ducale in Genoa.
One of the symbols of Genoa is this splendid palace from the 1300s. A historic building and a very important Genoese museum (the website palazzoducale.genova.it).
I had never managed to take a nice photo (or maybe I took some but then I didn't post them) and here the gap is filled even if a lot of time has already passed since I took the photo (March 2019).

Where is the palace:

The Palazzo Ducale of Genoa is one of the main historical buildings and museums of the Ligurian capital, once the seat of the doge of the ancient Republic.
Abandoned for a long time and used as the seat of the judicial offices before the construction of the new Portoria courthouse in the 1970s, its restoration was completed on the occasion of the “Colombiadi” of 1992, which commemorated Christopher Columbus and the five hundredth anniversary of the discovery of America.

Palazzo della Borsa a Genova.
Passeggiando in piazza De Ferrari a Genova si possono notare diversi palazzi storici che la delimitano. Oltre al palazzo della Regione, al Carlo Felice e al Palazzo Ducale c’e’ anche questo enorme edificio sede della borsa genovese, ai primi del secolo scorso uno dei piu’ importanti d’Italia.

Detto della Nuova Borsa Valori è un edificio storico di Genova, sito in Piazza De Ferrari. Realizzato dagli ingegneri Dario Carbone e Amedeo Pieragostini, ha un’architettura che ricalca lo stile neo-cinquecentesco, mentre gli interni, opera di Adolfo Coppedè, si ispirano allo stile Liberty. L’architettura e le decorazioni dovevano rendere evidenti la potenza finanziaria che il mercato genovese, per l’elevato volume di affari, esprimeva agli inizi del ‘900, quando era la prima borsa italiana.
