Courtyard of Honour of the Brera Palace in Milan.
One of the most famous Italian cultural venues in the world. This is the entrance cloister to the palace which houses the Brera Art Gallery, the Braidense National Library and the Academy of Fine Arts.
In the centre of the courtyard is the bronze statue of Napoleon Bonaparte as Mars the Peacemaker (a copy of the marble statue by Antonio Canova, now in Apsley House in London).

Here's where the courtyard is located:

The courtyard, like the entire building, dates back to the first half of the 17th century and was originally built as a cloister for the monastery of Santa Maria di Brera, governed by the Jesuit order, until the religious institute was suppressed and made property of the state, which transformed the building into the headquarters of the new academy of fine arts and art gallery.

Gramolazzo Lake in the province of Lucca
Some time ago I went on a little trip to Lucca and, on the way back, I decided to take the road that passes behind the Apuan Alps between Garfagnana and Lunigiana.
I must admit that I have never been there and I was very surprised to see this environment which is truly Alpine.
At one point we came across this beautiful alpine lake which I discovered was artificial.

Il Bosco Verticale è un complesso di due palazzi residenziali a torre progettato da Boeri Studio (Stefano Boeri, Gianandrea Barreca e Giovanni La Varra) e situato nel Centro direzionale di Milano, ai margini del quartiere Isola. Peculiarità di queste costruzioni, ambedue inaugurate nel 2014, è la presenza di più di duemila specie arboree, tra arbusti e alberi ad alto fusto, distribuite sui prospetti. Si tratta di un ambizioso progetto di riforestazione metropolitana che attraverso la densificazione verticale del verde si propone di incrementare la biodiversità vegetale e animale del capoluogo lombardo, riducendone l’espansione urbana e contribuendo anche alla mitigazione del microclima.

The Ducal Court of the Sforza Castle in Milan.
Even though it is a couple of hours by train from where I live, I have not been to Milan as a tourist that many times.
The last one, however, I walked around (and photographed) a lot.
In this image there is the Ducal Court of the castle with the famous colonnade called the Portico dell’Elefante.

The court has a U-shape and occupies the northern area of ​​the castle. It was built and decorated in the second half of the fifteenth century mainly by Galeazzo Maria Sforza, who came to reside here from his marriage to Bona in 1468 until his death, and by Ludovico il Moro who resided here during the entire twenty years of his dukedom.

Di fronte l’Obelisco (o Guglia) di San Domenico, poco dietro il retro dell’abside della omonima chiesa e sulla destra uno scorcio del bel Palazzo Saluzzo Corigliano.

Passeggiare in centro a Bologna vuol dire arrivare in Piazza Maggiore e quindi vedere la Fontana di Nettuno con la maestosa statua e poi l’altrettanto maestoso Palazzo D’Accursio (anche chiamato Palazzo Comunale).

FLe prime testimonianze del palazzo risalgono al 14 febbraio 1287 quando Francesco d’Accursio, figlio del noto giurista Accursio, vende al Comune di Bologna quella che doveva essere l’abitazione del padre. Dal celebre maestro di diritto quindi prenderà nome l’intero edificio pubblico.

Quando ho visitato questa splendida basilica, uno dei simboli di Milano, mi ricordo ancora i primi versi della omonima poesia di Giuseppe Giusti imparata alle scuole medie:

“Vostra Eccellenza, che mi sta in cagnesco
per que’ pochi scherzucci di dozzina,
e mi gabella per antitedesco
perché metto le birbe alla berlina,
o senta il caso avvenuto di fresco
a me che, girellando una mattina,
càpito in Sant’Ambrogio di Milano,
in quello vecchio, là, fuori di mano.”

La basilica ha una facciata a capanna larga e schiacciata ed è dotata di due logge sovrapposte. I lati della loggia inferiore, che è costituita da tre arcate di eguali dimensioni, si congiungono con il portico, che possiede arcate lievemente più alte.
