The beautiful Borzone Abbey near Borzonasca.
I have already published some photos of the splendid Abbey dedicated to Sant’Andrea Apostolo which is a few kilometers from Borzonasca.
Surrounded by greenery and very well kept! Unfortunately, the last time I was there, it was closed and I could not photograph the interior.
A jewel absolutely worth visiting.

A historical-legendary peculiarity is that the abbey is located on the Sacred Line of San Michele, an imaginary straight connection between various monasteries in Europe.

The obelisk of the Immaculate Conception in Piazza del Gesù Nuovo in Naples.
One of the three obelisks or spires present in the beautiful city of Naples.
When I was taking the photo, in front of the monument, there were two fire trucks that I decided to leave to remind us of how important the Fire Brigade always is.

The obelisk of the Immaculate Conception (or more properly the spire of the Immaculate Conception) is a baroque obelisk in Naples located in Piazza del Gesù Nuovo, in front of the church of the same name. The monument is chronologically the last of the three great obelisks of Naples, having been erected in the eighteenth century and therefore after that of San Gennaro and San Domenico.

Nell’abside più antica la prima tribuna sopra l’altare maggiore della basilica venne innalzata fra 1547 e il 1549, ma di essa oggi non restano che le quattro colonne di marmo veronese rimontate nella nuova abside nel 1662. Nello stesso anno l’architetto Francesco Martini progettava la grande cupola ottagonale in legno, sostenuta da monumentali frontoni posti direttamente sui capitelli.

Details of the Sassetti Chapel in Santa Trinita in Florence.
In this beautiful church in Florence there is this chapel, frescoed by the Sassetti family, in which one of the greatest artists of the time, Ghirlandaio, expressed his great talent.
Thanks to Lorenzo I discovered that the name of the church is without an accent.

Here is where the basilica is located:

It preserves an important cycle of frescoes with the Stories of Saint Francis of Assisi (1482-1485), considered the masterpiece of Domenico Ghirlandaio and among the most significant works of the cultured, elegant and antiquarian Humanism of the Laurentian era.

Passeggiando tra le strade della città toscana di Lucca ci si imbatte, quasi ad ogni angolo, in qualcosa di bello.
Come questa architrave scolpita che è nella facciata della antica chiesa (si parla di anno Mille) dedicata a San Salvatore.

Biduino è stato uno scultore italiano, esponente del romanico pisano, attivo nel periodo 1173-1194. Attento allo studio della scultura romana e tardo-antica, soprattutto dei sarcofagi, ripropose affollate composizioni in continuità narrativa, allungando i corpi delle figure secondo una visione ancora bizantina o denunciando analogie con opere provenzali.

The splendid Borzone Abbey near Borzonasca

La splendida Abbazia di Borzone nel comune di Borzonasca

The splendid Borzone Abbey in the municipality of Borzonasca.
Immersed in the greenery of the hills and mountains that slowly reach important peaks, the splendid church dedicated to Saint Andrew the Apostle is a little gem.
I came here to walk the path that leads from the abbey to the Megalithic Face (an enormous and very mysterious rock on whose surface a human face has been carved) and, if you want, to the abandoned church of San Martino di Licciorno.

A historical-legendary peculiarity is that the abbey is located on the Sacred Line of Saint Michael, an imaginary straight connection between various monasteries in Europe.

The Fountain of Neptune in Bologna

The Fountain of Neptune in Bologna.
It is certainly the most famous fountain in the Emilian city of Bologna.
Located in Piazza del Nettuno (practically in Piazza Maggiore) between the Salaborsa Library, Palazzo Re Enzo and Palazzo d’Accursio.
Obviously it represents the god of the sea surrounded by cherubs holding dolphins and four nereids.
There is also a secret (which is no longer a secret) of the seven that can be found in the city linked to the finger of the god which, if seen from a certain perspective, appears to be his genital organ.

The third cloister of Santa Maria in Castello

The third cloister of the church of Santa Maria in Castello in Genoa.
A “stolen” shot of the second cloister of the complex of the church of Santa Maria in Castello. I write stolen because the cloister can only be seen through an iron gate since it is part of spaces managed by the University and therefore cannot be visited through the church.
For me it was an incredible surprise: in addition to the splendid church, the three splendid cloisters.

The third cloister, smaller than the previous ones, was built between 1492 and 1513. Today it is incorporated into a university residence, so it cannot be visited.
