The symbolic tower of Savona: Leon Pancaldo tower. This is the symbolic tower of Savona. When you arrive in the city you cannot help but pass in front of the ancient symbolic tower of the city. It is called Leon Pancaldo tower (or Quarda tower). It is right in front of the port and is the end point of the main street of the Ligurian town.

Formerly called Torre della Quarda, it is mentioned for the first time in a document from 1392 and was part of the city walls protecting the city, in a strategic position for the defense of both the adjacent Porta della Quarda and the port. After the destruction of the walls. Continue and learn more on Wikipedia

The face of the departed: one of the remains of Pompeii. The face of the departed in this remnant of the city of Pompeii, one of the finds that struck me the most (which is not a statue but I will explain later). As you all know, Pompeii is the Roman town that around the year zero was swept away, together with Herculaneum, by one of the largest eruptions of Vesuvius. I used the words "swept away" which are actually not correct. In fact, the fury of the volcano, rather than destroying, covered the town with a layer of dust and lava. It all happened so suddenly that many did not even manage to escape. The subject of this photo in fact represents one of those people who, surprised by the erection, sought shelter somewhere in vain. It is shocking to observe the hands trying to cover the face.

Pompeii (Latin: Pompeii) is an ancient city, corresponding to the current Pompeii, whose history dates back to the 9th century BC and ends in 79, when, following the eruption of Vesuvius, it was covered under a blanket of ash and lapilli about six meters high. Its rediscovery and the related excavations, begun in 1748, brought to light an archaeological site that in 1997 became part of the UNESCO World Heritage list, and which is the second most visited Italian monument after the museum system of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine. The Faun of Pompeii is probably one of the most famous bronze statues in the world. It gives its name to the House of the same name (called precisely the House of the Faun) and represents a dancing satyr.

The House of the Faun is a Roman house, buried during the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 and rediscovered following the archaeological excavations of ancient Pompeii: it is one of the largest homes in the city and owes its name to a bronze statue, depicting a satyr, placed in the impluvium. It occupies almost entirely the Insula 12 of Regio VI.

The ruins of the ancient city of Pompeii. I had wanted to visit the ruins of Pompeii for years and this time I didn't let the opportunity slip away. I immortalized some, unfortunately there wasn't much time, of the most beautiful and famous places (temple of Apollo, Lupanare, statue of the faun...) and I'm sharing them here hoping you like them.
In this photo a panoramic view from the Forum of Pompeii with Vesuvius in the background and the modern statues of the French-Polish artist Igor Mitoraj.

Continue and learn more on Wikipedia
