The tribute to Bud Spencer of the Spanish Quarters in Naples. Walking in the Spanish Quarters of Naples I discovered this beautiful work, right next to the murals dedicated to Diego Armando Maradona, dedicated to Carlo Pedersoli aka Bud Spencer. Created by the artist Mario Schiano. I was really pleased to find this memory of one of my favorite Italian actors. In the film Piedone lo sbirro in fact Bud is a policeman from the city of Naples.

The interior of the church of Santa Maria Foris Portam in Lucca. The interior of the beautiful 12th-century church in Lucca. The Church of Santa Maria Forisportam, also known as Santa Maria Bianca, is a Romanesque church located in Piazza Santa Maria Forisportam in Lucca. The church has three naves with a transept and apse, maintaining the medieval plan. The lower orders of the façade and the apse are divided into blind loggias supported by semi-columns, while on the sides and transepts we find pilaster strips. A small architraved loggia completes the apse. Inside the church there are several works of art, including two canvases by Guercino: Santa Lucia (1642) and Assunta between Saints Francis and Alexander (1643). Another noteworthy work is The Trinity with Saints Francis and Jerome by Alessandro Ardenti. An interesting curiosity is the presence of a “camera obscura” sundial in the church. The hour line is drawn on the floor in front of the high altar, and a hole in the eastern wall allows light to pass through, indicating Lucca's midday (7 minutes and 55 seconds after Rome solar time). The church was built in the 12th century and has undergone changes over the centuries, especially in the 16th century, when new works were placed. It was originally located outside the Roman walls of the city, hence the name "Forisportam" (outside the gate). The church is also known as Santa Maria Bianca for its white stone facade of Santa Maria del Giudice. The structure is simple and perfect, with three portals surmounted by architraves and lunettes decorated in classical style.

The name of the Church of Santa Maria Forisportam is linked to the fact that, compared to the oldest city walls, that of the Roman era, this church was located outside the city, hence foris portam (outside the gate). Continue on Wikipedia

The Asinelli Tower in Bologna. The most famous tower in Bologna photographed through the porticoes of the Palazzo della Mercanzia. Unfortunately there was a cable that cut across the entire tower and if you look carefully you can see that I tried to remove it.

The Asinelli Tower is one of the so-called two towers of Bologna, symbol of the city, located in Piazza di Porta Ravegnana, at the intersection of the ancient streets San Donato (now Via Zamboni), San Vitale, Maggiore and Castiglione. Built, according to tradition, between 1109 and 1119 by the nobleman Gherardo Asinelli. Continue and learn more on Wikipedia

Rapallo Castle. It is the symbol of the coastal town and you cannot miss it while walking along the seafront. It was built by the Doge of Genoa to defend the town from the Saracens and in particular from the famous (in our area) pirate Dragut during the Middle Ages.

The castle on the sea is a defensive position in Rapallo, in the metropolitan city of Genoa, built to defend the body of water near the Vittorio Veneto seafront. It is also called a medieval castle with an incorrect definition since the construction dates back only to the second half of the 16th century. Continue and learn more on Wikipedia

The third cloister of the church of Santa Maria in Castello in Genoa. A “stolen” shot of the second cloister of the complex of the church of Santa Maria in Castello. I write stolen because the cloister can only be seen through an iron gate since it is part of spaces managed by the University and therefore cannot be visited through the church. For me it was an incredible surprise: in addition to the splendid church, the three splendid cloisters.

The Little Window in Via Piella, the Venice of Bologna. One of the places usually mentioned among the secrets of the city (but which at this point has become one of the most visited and photographed tourist places) is this small window which, if opened, shows one of the last remaining canals in Bologna. It really seems like you are in Venice.

The Bolognese water network was gradually developed between the 12th and 16th centuries, starting from the two fundamental works, namely the locks of San Ruffillo and Casalecchio, on the Savena torrent and the Reno river respectively, initially made necessary to increase the number of grain mills and to feed the moat of the second circle of city walls.
