A beautiful villa in Corso Buenos Aires in Lavagna. Corso Buenos Aires, in Lavagna, is that long tree-lined avenue that goes from the center to Entella and Chiavari. It hosts the most beautiful houses and villas in the Tigullian city. Like this beautiful building, whose name I don't know, however. In the next few months I will post many others that I have recently photographed.

The figurehead of the galleon in the Porto Antico area of Genoa. The Neptune Galleon, located in the Porto Antico of Genoa, is a replica of a Spanish galleon built in 1986 for the film “Pirates” by Roman Polański. The ship is famous for its figurehead, which represents the god of the seas Neptune². This imposing bow figure adds a touch of authenticity and historical charm to the ship.
The Neptune is one of the main attractions of the Porto Antico and offers visitors a unique experience, allowing them to explore a privateer ship and imagine the life of pirates during the golden age of piracy. If you are in Genoa, it is definitely worth a visit!
A figurehead is a wooden decoration, often depicting a female, animal or mythological figure, that was found on the bow of ships from the 16th to the 19th century. Originally introduced on galleons, the figurehead had several purposes:
1. Identification: It indicated the name of the ship, useful for those who could not read. 2. Symbolism: It showed the wealth and strength of the ship's owner. 3. Protection: It was believed to protect the ship and its crew during voyages.
Figureheads were often elaborately carved and painted, adding an artistic and distinctive touch to the vessels.

The Monument to the Constitution of 1812 in Cadiz. The “Monumento a la Constitución de 1812” is located in Cadiz, Spain, and commemorates the promulgation of the Constitution of Cadiz of 1812. This constitution, also known as “La Pepa”, was a milestone in Spanish history, representing the principles of liberalism and civil rights. The monument is located in the Plaza de San Juan de Dios, in the historic center of Cadiz. It was inaugurated on March 19, 1912 to celebrate the centenary of the promulgation of the Constitution. The date is significant, as it marks the beginning of constitutional legislation in Spain. When the sea is rough while sailing. Those who decide to take a cruise must always take into account that the ship is on the sea and the weather is always unpredictable. It doesn't matter if you are in the immense Ocean or in the more reassuring Adriatic Sea: when nature decides to raise the wind and the waves start to increase, the ship begins to rock. No problem though: modern ships are so large (and have stabilization systems) that the wave motion makes them move very little compared to the past! but they do move a little! What to do? Don't think about it too much and let yourself be lulled by the movement!
I took these photos last year from my ex Costa Firenze.

Dried fruit at the Boqueria market in Barcelona, Spain. The beautiful stalls of the most famous covered market in Barcelona are always very beautiful to see and to photograph. This was one of the several stalls that sell (but the photo is not exactly recent) dried fruit and you can recognize some of them: banana, apricot, strawberry, kiwi and other fruit that I don't recognize.

La Boqueria is the most famous market in Spain and one of the largest in Catalonia with its 2,583 square meters and more than 300 stalls. It is also one of the oldest markets in Spain: born at the beginning of the 17th century at the gates of the city in the plain of Pla de la Boqueria (which today is a small square in front of the current market) to avoid paying taxes on goods, it was inaugurated later, in 1836, where it is still located halfway along the popular Rambla, between the Palau de la Virreina and the Liceu Theater. The sbatacchio arches between the houses in the village of Vernazza in the Cinque Terre. Walking through the Ligurian villages you often see these architectural structures that connect the houses in the alleys. These arches, called sbatacchio arches, are elements built to increase the stability of the buildings especially when the distance between the walls is small (and in Liguria it is almost a constant).

A camel caravan in Timanfaya Park on the island of Arrecife. Last year, I finally managed to visit Timanfaya Park on the island of Lanzarote. The park is visited by taking a tour, in my case by bus, among the many volcanic peaks (active and not) in the area. However, there is also the possibility of taking a tour on camels, animals that were used a lot in the past on the island, hence this camel caravan that I photographed.

The yellow funnel of the Costa Diadema in Bergen. A few months ago I was on board the splendid Costa Diadema (of Costa Crociere) in Northern Europe and, as I often do, I took a photo from the town of the iconic yellow funnel with the blue “C” symbol of the company I work for.

A myriad of spices at the Boqueria market in Barcelona. The Boqueria market is certainly built to attract tourists. The credit for all this is given by the large quantity and variety of goods on display. In addition to fresh fruit take-away there are also many stalls selling spices of all kinds, both already contained in bottles and by weight. I'll leave you to imagine the smells passing in front of this stall!
