One of the plants, not exactly typical, but very widespread in Liguria is the prickly pear.
At the moment it is blooming and it is also a beautiful little flower.

The prickly pear or prickly pear is a plant native to Mexico. From here, in ancient times, it spread among the populations of Central America who cultivated and traded it already at the time of the Aztecs, among whom it was considered a sacred plant with strong symbolic values.

Renzi a Sestri Levante

Renzi a Sestri Levante.
Gli ultimi colpi di coda di una campagna elettorale per le comunali di Sestri Levante portano nella nostra cittadina i pezzi da novanta.
Oggi ha parlato Matteo Renzi, a supporto della candidata Valentina Ghio.
Mercoledì ci sarà Beppe Grillo.
Ovviamente, essendo questo un blog incentrato sulla fotografia, non mi inerpico nemmeno in discussioni politiche anche perché, devo ammetterlo, ho seguito proprio poco i dibattiti.
Vedremo.

Velette in baia del Silenzio

Non è proprio una cosa bella da vedere (e da odorare) ma è del tutto naturale: le velette (si dovrebbero chiamare velelle o barchette di San Pietro) che sono degli animali simili a meduse che in questo periodo vengono trascinate dalla corrente a riva dove, una volta spiaggiate, si dissolvono con il sole.

In questi giorni formano un tappeto blu-azzurro sul bagnasciuga di Portobello.

Velella velella, also known as St. Peter's or St. John's boat, is a colony of hydrozoans of the Porpitidae family. It is often found in all oceans, on the shores or at most 1-2 cm deep in the water, with a preference for warm or temperate waters. Like other cnidarians (coelenterates), Velella velella is a carnivorous animal. It captures its prey, usually plankton, using its tentacles that contain toxins. These toxins, while effective against the prey, are harmless to humans, as they cannot penetrate the skin and do not cause any reaction to human skin. However, it is preferable to avoid touching your eyes after picking up a Velella velella.

Portobello il 18 maggio, prove di hdr.
Come da titolo questa mattina ho voluto provare anche io a fare qualche foto con l’HDR, quel sistema per combinare foto con diverse esposizioni (exposure).
Quale migliore luogo se non la baia di Portobello in una giornata uggiosa (ora che scrivo è diventata piovosa)?
