The Arch of Constantine: one of the most famous monuments in Rome.
The Arch of Constantine, located near the Colosseum, is one of the most famous and best preserved monuments of ancient Rome. Built in 315 AD, the arch was erected to celebrate the victory of Emperor Constantine I in the Battle of the Milvian Bridge (312 AD), which marked his triumph over Maxentius and the consolidation of his power.
The arch is approximately 21 meters high and has three arches (fornices): a larger central one and two smaller lateral ones. Its decoration is an example of artistic syncretism, as it incorporates reliefs from monuments of previous eras, probably to underline the continuity of imperial authority. Some of the reliefs were taken from monuments of Trajan, Hadrian and Marcus Aurelius, adapted and inserted into the context of Constantine's triumph.
The importance of the arch lies not only in its artistic value, but also in its historical significance. Constantine's victory was decisive for the spread of Christianity, since, according to tradition, the emperor attributed his success to divine intervention. A few years later, with the Edict of Milan (313 AD), Constantine guaranteed freedom of worship to Christians, marking a fundamental turning point in the history of the empire and of Christianity itself.
Today, the Arch of Constantine is one of the most visited monuments in Rome, a silent witness to the greatness and change of the Roman Empire.

L’infiorescenza è formata da grandi fiori natanti generalmente solitari. La lunghezza del peduncolo, a sezione rotonda, è in funzione della profondità dell’acqua. Normalmente i fiori durano a lungo e si aprono durante il giorno solo a cielo sereno.

Un piccolo leudo con l’Ex Convento dell’Annunziata di Sestri sullo sfondo.
Come spesso faccio fotografo sempre la Baia del Silenzio e cerco sempre di trovare qualche particolare con differente luce o elementi.
In questo caso c’era una bella barchetta (che nel titolo chiamo leudo anche se non sono proprio sicuro che lo sia) con sullo sfondo il bel Ex Convento dell’Annunziata.
Update: come mi suggeriscono nei commenti dovrebbe essere un gozzo rivanetto!

I ravioli al ragù dell’Albergo Ristorante la Veranda a Tavarone.
Qulche settimana fa, su invito di un visitatore, sono stato ad assaggiare i ravioli al ragù (in genovese i raieu au tuccu) a Tavarone, un piccolo paese in Val di Vara (nell’entroterra di Sestri Levante e Casarza Ligure).
Ho scoperto dei ravioli proprio buoni tanto che li metto al terzo posto della mia speciale classifica dei ravioli!
Assolutamente da non perdere!
Solo un suggerimento: prenotate perchè gli orari ed i posti sono limitati!

Dream beaches: Ky Co Beach in Vietnam.
A few months ago, when I was in Vietnam at my wife's house, I managed to spend a few days in an area of beautiful beaches, the most famous of which was definitely Ky Co Beach.
Golden sand and transparent water!
And also lots of tourists (Vietnamese and Chinese).

La Baia del Silenzio di Sestri Levante fotografata da dentro l’acqua.
Qualche settimana fa, mentre ero ancora a casa, ho scattato diverse foto della Baia confla mia Gopro ed il Dome (quell’oggetto simile ad una bolla che permette di scattare le foto metà dentro e metà fuori l’acqua).
Dopo diversi tentativi mi sembra che i risultati inizino ad essere abbastanza soddisfacenti non credete?
Questa è la zona tra scogli e posidonia appena attorno alla statua del pescatore.

A nice plate of tonnarelli cacio e pepe
A few weeks ago I tasted (in Brescia) a truly excellent dish of tonnarelli cacio e pepe.
Creamy to perfection and very tasty.

Cacio e pepe is a typical dish from Lazio. As the name suggests, the ingredients are very simple and include only black pepper, pecorino romano cheese and pasta. The most traditionally used type of pasta is tonnarello.

La testa con le ali di pipistrello della fontana in piazza Matteotti a Sestri Levante.
In piazza Matteotti a Sestri, proprio di fronte al Municipio, c’è questa piccola fontana (o forse meglio chiamarla barchile) che solo recentemente ho guardato bene e fotografato.
Nu ogni lato ci sono raffigurate delle teste mostruose con delle ali di pipistrello ai lati.
