The interior of the Basilica of San Domenico Maggiore in Naples.
Wandering through the alleys of Naples I came across this beautiful Basilica which is also one of the most important in the Neapolitan city.
This is its interior with the central nave.

The Basilica of San Domenico Maggiore is a monumental church in Naples located in a nearly central position with respect to the lower decumanus, in the square of the same name. The basilica, a typical example of Gothic-Angevin architecture, together with its adjacent convent, constitutes one of the most important religious complexes in the city, both from a historical, artistic and cultural point of view.

I have been to the Tuscan city of Florence several times but, despite having been meaning to do so for a long time, only recently did I manage to visit the Basilica of Santa Croce.
And it was truly a wonderful visit, so many are the beauties and pages of history that this monument contains within it.

The Basilica of Santa Croce in the square of the same name in Florence is one of the largest Franciscan churches and one of the greatest achievements of Gothic in Italy, and has the rank of minor basilica. Santa Croce is a prestigious symbol of Florence, the meeting place of the greatest artists, theologians, religious figures, men of letters, humanists and politicians, who determined, for better or for worse, the identity of the late medieval and Renaissance city.

Uno dei monumenti da visitare a Bologna è sicuramente la Basilica di Santo Stefano chiamato comunemente le Sette Chiese dal momento che, nei secoli, si sono costruite sette diverse chiese in questo luogo.
Entrandovi (entrata gratuita) si può ammirare uno splendido chiostro di cui, in questo post, potete vedere le colonnine del secondo piano.

The Basilica of Santo Stefano (cîṡa ed San Stêven in Bolognese) is a complex of religious buildings in Bologna. It overlooks the square of the same name and is also known as the complex of the “Seven Churches”. It has the dignity of a minor basilica.

La facciata della bella Basilica lucchese, uno dei luoghi di culto più antichi della città toscana.
A dire la verità ero stato altre due volte a Lucca ma non avevo visto questa chiesa in precedenza.

La facciata (XII secolo) è in pietra levigata ed è verticalmente pentapartita, a livello della navata centrale, delle due navate laterali e delle due fasce di cappelle laterali. I tre portali sono delimitati da pilastri, sormontati da un architrave (di cui solo quello centrale decorato con motivi vegetali) ed archetti ciechi.

L’interno della Basilica di Santa Maria delle Vigne a Genova.
Girovagando per i vicoli del centro storico di Genova, tutte le volte che mi ci perdo (e non è proprio un eufemismo), scopro sempre qualcosa di nuovo.
Sarò passato decine di volte in via degli Orefici ma mai avevo notato quel violetto che porta alla splendida ed antica chiesa nel quartiere della Maddalena.

Costruita come basilica romanica a tre navate aveva il tetto a capriate a vista, il transetto poco sporgente con tiburio ottagonale e tre absidi semicircolari. In origine la navata centrale era separata da quelle laterali mediante una serie di otto colonne per lato, sopra le quali correva un finto matroneo composto da una fila di trifore affiancate.

San Frediano and the Cartasia Biennale

The Basilica of San Frediano and the Cartasia Biennale in Lucca.
A month ago I was in beautiful Lucca, the Tuscan town surrounded by beautiful walls.
It's a convenient destination for me because I can get there in just over an hour and a half by car.
Wandering around the city, photographing the squares, streets and churches, you never get tired.
When the visit is organized (coincidentally) in the period in which there are the artistic installations of the Biennale Cartasia the photos are even more special.
As in this photo, the beautiful facade of the Basilica of San Frediano is the backdrop to one of these works, which I remind you, are all made of paper and cardboard.

The Basilica of Carignano in Genoa

The Basilica of Carignano in Genoa.
The splendid Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta in Carignano is one of the largest churches in Genoa.
Built by the Sauli family, perhaps in competition with the Fieschi in the second half of the 16th century, it is still one of the most beloved by the Genoese and is located on a hill overlooking the port and the city.

The church, which stands out with its harmonious mass at the top of the Carignano hill, is one of the most famous Genoese works by Galeazzo Alessi and one of the greatest examples of Renaissance architecture in the city. The sculptures by Pierre Puget and Filippo Parodi contained within it are among the greatest masterpieces of the Genoese Baroque.

Il Presepe della Basilica di Santa Maria di Nazareth.
La tradizione dei presepi, nonostante le difficoltà nel muoversi dovute a questo maledetto Covid, prosegue anche quest’anno in quasi tutte le chiese sestresi.
Questo è il bel presepe della Basilica di Sestri Levante: Santa Maria di nazareth, la chiesa bianca tra la baia del Silenzio e quella delle Favole.

The sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rose in Santa Margherita.
A beautiful church, or rather Basilica, right in the center of Santa Margherita Ligure.
I had never seen it; only several months ago, when friends and I took a nice walk from Santa to Portofino, I saw it and photographed it.
