La colazione in un famoso hotel di Da Nang in Vietnam.
Vi mando un buongiorno con una foto che ho scattato qualche tempo fa in Vietnam.
Eravamo andati in un albergo a cinque stelle per fare la colazione e passare un paio d’ore di relax.
Purtroppo non ricordo il nome dell’hotel (forse chi mi segue su Instagram si ricorda che vi avevo gia’ postato una foto da li’) ma era veramente bello.

Breakfast with Swiss croissants.
One of the typical savory croissants that can be enjoyed in almost all cafés in Switzerland.
As I already wrote in another post, it is one of my favorite croissants and these are the ones that my parents, returning from a family weekend across the Alps, brought me for breakfast.
Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find savory croissants here, they are almost always sweet and filled (with cream, chocolate or jam). These are always empty.

There are persistent folk tales that mistakenly attribute the origin and shape of the croissant to the celebration of the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in the siege of Vienna in 1683 or the siege of Budapest in 1686. According to these stories, a baker who was working at night heard the sound of the Turks digging an underground tunnel. As a reward for saving the city, the baker received the exclusive right to produce crescent-shaped pastries to commemorate the event. However, there are no original contemporary sources to confirm any of these stories.

Bacon and eggs

Bacon and eggs, eggs and bacon and bread.
A dish with bacon and eggs placed on some bread.
It is usually eaten for breakfast but sometimes, when I am not very hungry and have no ideas, it is my dinner.

It is also a really simple dish to make. The only precaution, with the bacon, is not to burn it. I recommend low heat especially if, as in this case, it was quite thick.
The bread is simple packaged bread and toasted in the toaster. The eggs (in this case organic, provided by a dear friend of my dad) cooked in the fat melted from the bacon.
Easy peasy!

A little piece of focaccia? Great for breakfast.
As I have already said and written, there is no Genoese breakfast that does not include a little piece of focaccia all'olio.
I already have a nice photo (here) of the focaccia but when I saw this cabaret of focaccia at the bar I couldn't help but take a photo!

It can be eaten for breakfast, as a “fast breaker” in the morning or as an aperitif-appetizer. It is traditionally accompanied with a small glass of white wine (or gianchetto in Ligurian). It is customary (not typically Genoese) to dip the focaccia in cappuccino or milk for breakfast.

Cappuccino

Il cappuccino: la colazione classica dell’italiano medio al bar! Ho già una bella foto di un trancio di focaccia, che qui in Liguria è il “must” da accompagnare al cappuccino, che ovviamente era nella mano destra! Io però preferisco la variante latte macchiato che poi altro non è che la stessa bevanda con più latte!

Colazione con bacon e uova.
Una colazione classica (non italiana) è fatta con bacon e uova ed un paio di fettine di pane tostato.
In realtà mancano alcuni elementi per essere una tipica colazione inglese: manca una salsiccia, un pomodoro grigliato e qualche patata… a dire la verità il bacon è prosciutto crudo passato in padella.
Vabbè non proprio una colazione classica ma veramente ottima!
