The alleyway of the village of Sestri Levante in Liguria. When I'm at home, almost every morning, I go downtown for a walk and a coffee. I like to take a walk when there are few people and this happens especially in winter. When sunny days happen, like the one on the day I took this photo, it is one of my favorite subjects for shots.

The caruggio of Mattarana a small village in Liguria. Some time ago I went to eat ravioli in a famous trattoria in Mattarana, a small Ligurian village in the province of La Spezia. After lunch I took a stroll around the village to take some photos and this is the main caruggio, with the church at the end, around which the few houses were built.

A glimpse of via Giuseppe Garibaldi in Sestri Levante. A small street, just behind the sea front, but truly characteristic and called (once) the “caruggiu de l’ou” because there were deposits of some metals, mainly sulphides in the form of pyrite and chalcopyrite, extracted in the nearby hinterland.

The center of the village of Vernazza in the Cinque Terre. Some time ago, in winter, I was in Vernazza and it was almost shocking to walk in such an uncrowded village. Right in January and with the Sentiero Azzurro closed you can fully enjoy the village.

Santo Stefano seen from the caruggio of Lavagna. The caruggio and the Basilica of Santo Stefano are probably the two symbols of Lavagna and in these shots I tried to show you both.

The collegiate basilica of Santo Stefano is a Catholic place of worship in the municipality of Lavagna, in Piazza Guglielmo Marconi, in the metropolitan city of Genoa. The church is the seat of the parish of the same name of the vicariate of Chiavari-Lavagna of the diocese of Chiavari. In May 1921, Pope Benedict XV elevated it to the rank of minor basilica. The alley of Chiavari and the plaque for Garibaldi. One of the many shots of the views that I like to take when I walk in the alley of Chiavari. In this case, from the portico, you can see this plaque (perhaps a gravestone) in memory of Giuseppe Garibaldi. Since it is not possible to read what is written in this photo, I will transcribe it below:
Qui il 5 e 6 settembre 1849 Giuseppe Garibaldi cittadino chiavarese eroe dei Due Mondi era ospitato dal proprio cugino e fratello del cuore Alberto Puccio Di Antonio
La Società Economica proprietaria della casa che fu già di Emanuele Gonzalez grande benefattore del popolo poneva il 29 ottobre 1882

Considered by historiography and in the mass culture of the 20th century as the main Italian national hero, he began his travels around the world as an officer of merchant ships, and then became a long-distance captain. His most famous enterprise was the victorious expedition of the Thousand that led to the annexation of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies to the nascent Kingdom of Italy, a central episode in the process of unification of the new nation. Some commercial activities in the caruggio in Sestri Levante. The part closest to the sea of the Sestrese caruggio hosts a myriad of commercial activities aimed at satisfying tourists: restaurants, bars, ice cream parlors, all of which work very hard when visitors fill our town.

Where via Palestro meets the Caruggio in Sestri Levante. Last winter I managed to take some photos in a rather deserted Sestri and I took the opportunity to take many shots in the historic center. This is the point where via Palestro, the small street that leads to the Bay of Silence, meets via XXV Aprile, the Sestrese caruggio.

A glimpse into the historic center of Lavagna. If I'm not mistaken, this alley, decidedly off the tourist trail of Lavagna and therefore more characteristic, is located just behind the caruggio. To tell the truth, I was unable to find the name of the street afterwards.

Strolling through the splendid alleyway of Sestri Levante. In winter, the period in which I took this photo, it is not that difficult to walk through the Sestrese alleyway and meet practically no one. It is probably the best period to enjoy the centre of my town calmly and take some beautiful photos like this one.
