The Soprana Gate from the street of the same name

Porta Soprana

Soprana gate from the street of the same name.
Probably the most famous portal of the Superba also because it is close to Columbus' house.
It was one of the access points to the city; that part of the city that is now the historic center.
The photo was taken from the street of the same name that goes from the gate to the cathedral of San Lorenzo.
Still very well preserved and I recommend you pass under it to enter the alleys!

The Gate also called Porta di Sant’Andrea (in Ligurian Pòrta de Sant’Andria) was one of the entrance gates to the city of Genoa. Among the main medieval stone architectures of the Ligurian capital, it is located on the top of the Piano di Sant’Andrea, from which it takes its name.

Casa delle viti in vico del Bottone

Casa delle viti in vico del Bottone.
Nella mia Sestri Levante ci sono alcune case, nel centro storico, con delle piante di vite che ne impreziosiscono la facciata.
Una è in via della Chiusa, l’altra è questa e la terza è in Vico Marina di Ponente.
Mi affascinano moltissimo e sarei curioso di vedere la pergola in cima al palazzo, magari un giorno mi ci inviteranno!

The ancient Greek street called Decumano Maggiore that crosses the historic center of the Neapolitan city.
Here you can find some of the most famous pizzerias in the world and you can see a cross-section of the city between modern and ancient.

Today the decumanus maggiore is one of the most important streets in the historic center of Naples (declared a World Heritage Site in 1995) and corresponds to today's via dei Tribunali, still following the ancient Greek road axis entirely. Precisely because it is a road structure originating from ancient Greece, it would be more appropriate to speak of plateia and not of "decumanus", a name from the Roman era that by convention has replaced the original.

Fiori su palazzo a Ibiza.
Le stradine di Ibiza tanto fanno proprio venire in mente l’estate.
Questi bei fiori rosa, che adornavano la facciata di questa casa nel centro della cittadina spagnola, facevano proprio un effetto relax.
Come ho gia scritto in altri post Ibiza non e’ solo divertimento sfrenato la notte, e’ anche relax.

One of the historic markets of the Sicilian city. One of the places not to be missed.
I was there a couple of weeks ago with some colleagues and we ate something in this very characteristic little square.

The name of this market comes from the word Bucceria, taken from the French boucherie, which means butcher's shop. The market was in fact initially intended for slaughter (and in the Angevin era one was built) and for the sale of meat. Later it became a market for the sale of fish, fruit and vegetables. In ancient times it was called "the great Bucciria" to distinguish it from the smaller markets. "Vuccirìa" in Palermo means "Confusion". Today, the confusion of overlapping voices and the shouts of the sellers (the abbanniati) is one of the elements that most characterizes this Palermo market.

The Spanish Quarters in Naples
Walking along Via Toledo for a tour of the Neapolitan city, you cannot fail to notice the Spanish Quarters, this maze of alleys famous in Naples.
Honestly, I've never been inside but I imagine it's a bit like walking through the alleys of downtown Genoa.
In the photo one of the entrances to the neighborhood.

The neighborhoods arose around the 16th century in order to accommodate the Spanish military garrisons destined to repress any revolts of the Neapolitan population, or as a temporary residence for those who passed through Naples on their way to other places of conflict. Since the time of their birth, the Spanish neighborhoods presented phenomena of crime and especially prostitution, linked to the continuous search for "entertainment" by the Spanish soldiers

Lecce per me e’ stata una sorpresa. Nel centro della citta’ vecchia si trova questo splendido anfiteatro del primo-secondo secolo dopo Cristo.

Ecco dove si trova il teatro:

L’anfiteatro romano, insieme al teatro, è il monumento più espressivo dell’importanza raggiunta da Lupiae, l’antenata romana di Lecce, tra il I e il II secolo d.C.
La datazione del monumento è ancora oggetto di discussione e oscilla tra l’età augustea e quella traiano-adrianea.

Quando riesco a fare un giretto per Genova amo fotografare i dettagli dei vicoli.
Tra gente tipica, personaggi cupi, negozietti piccoli per stranieri, si trovano anche questi capolavori di magari poca rilevanza artistica ma di grande importanza popolare.

Inizio dei Vicoli di Genova

Beginning of the alleys of Genoa.
One of the many entrances to the alleys of Genoa is in Piazza Caricamento and leads to Piazza Banchi.
On the right, the back of Palazzo San Giorgio, on the left, the portico begins with the sign of one of the remaining fry shops in the historic center and in the background, almost invisible, the Loggia dei Banchi.

Vicoletto di Genova

Vicoletto di Genova

Vicoletto di Genova.
Non di frequente attraverso i vicoli del centro storico di Genova e non altrettanto di frequente ne scatto qualche foto.
Questa infatti l’avevo realizzata diversi mesi fa, quando ero andato a spasso per le vie del centro, per alcune commissioni.
E’ un vicoletto laterale di via del Campo (che ha pure celebrato De Andre’ con la omonima canzone).
Non certo un luogo turistico per eccellenza ma come chi conosce un po’ la storia recente di Genova fino ad alcune decine di anni fa non ci si poteva nemmeno avvicinare a questi luoghi.
Ora si puo’ passeggiare con animo abbastanza sereno, almeno di giorno, e godere di questi scorci rubati.
