The beautiful Piazza Grillo Cattaneo in the alleys of Genoa.
Walking through the alleys of the historic center of Genoa, a couple of times already, I ended up in this beautiful little square overlooking one of the buildings of the Genoese Rolli (Palazzo Lorenzo Cattaneo).
The splendid entrance portal, on the left, is certainly what attracts the eye but the square itself is really beautiful.

Here's where the square is located:

The most evident trace of this intervention is the entrance portal to the palace, created by the Lombard sculptor Antonio della Porta, known as Tamagnino, in 1504. The work reflects the originality of Cattaneo, certainly unique in the Genoese context both for the importance of the client and for the originality of the structure and decoration.

The architectural layout remained unchanged until the late sixteenth century; from that time onwards new noble palaces were built within the walls in the contemporary Renaissance style. The choice of the new architectural style was especially evident in the main streets Ravaschieri and Stefano Rivarola where palaces very similar to other buildings in Genoa were erected or revised. From 1648, or perhaps from 1646, it received the title of City from the Republic of Genoa.

Il caruggio curvato del borgo di Brugnato in Liguria.
Molto spesso, percorrendo i piccoli centri dei borghi di Liguria, si incontrano spesso questi vicoli (che noi chiamiamo caruggi) che curvano. Ovviamente hanno questa forma per circondare il centro storico e per proteggerne con, le proprie mura, gli abitanti.
Questo è il bel caruggio di Brugnato, un piccolo borgo in provincia di La Spezia che è diventato più conosciuto per la costruzione dell’Outlet nel suo territorio.

Between the 7th and 8th centuries, following the conquest of Liguria by the Lombards, the Columban monks of Bobbio, who followed the rule of Saint Columbanus and continued their work of evangelization, built a monastery that over time grew to become a religious and economic nerve center. The birth of Brugnato is therefore linked to the foundation of the abbey which, like other monastic sites in Liguria and northern Italy, depended on the abbey of San Colombano di Bobbio.

Via S. Dallorso nel centro storico di Chiavari.
In centro a Chiavari, appena dopo la piazza dei Coi (piazza Mazzini) c’è questa piccola via nella quale c’è la prima sede del Banco di Chiavari.
Credevo che la “S” stesse per San ma ovviamente non sono riuscito a trovare molto (anzi non ho trovato proprio nulla) su San Dallorso; come mi hanno scritto nei commenti è il Senatore Nicola Giuseppe Dallorso, il fondatore della banca chiavarese, a cui è dedicata la via.

It is certainly not the most well-kept or touristy corner of Lavagna but it has that certain something of lived-in that fascinates me anyway.
Wandering around the small historic center of the Ligurian village you will find many cute and very photogenic corners.
Here we are between Vico Goffredo Mameli and Vico Palestro.

Il bronzin del centro storico di Lavagna.
Questa bella fontanella, nel centro di Lavagna (ma non nel carrugio principale), è un monito a tutti i cittadini del bel borgo, di non toccare mai (o rimuovere) questo “rubinetto”!

O BRONZIN
…se a quarchedun, vegnia l’idea meschinn-a
de cangialo co’na pompa de benzinn-a
con cose recammae, con cose finte,
voreieiva dì che o no capisce ninte.

Lasciaemmolo stà lì, anche se vegio,
lasciaemmolo cosci, perché.. o l’è megio.
Pe’ niatri, sto bronzin, l’è na bandea,
o l’è o nostro “fossou”, a nostra “sc-ciummea”.
