Where via della Chiusa joins the caruggio in Sestri Levante. I almost always arrive in the caruggio by passing through via della Chiusa. Partly because whether by car or motorbike I always park near Piazza del Mercato, and partly because my friend Alessandro's shop is in this street. This is the view you can have by walking along via della Chiusa.

The Caruggio or Carruggio is a street, alley or even portico typical of the historic centers of Liguria. The term derives from the Latin quadrivium, or from the more popular quadruvium. In the Middle Ages, the Genoese street network was based on the carruggi, controlled by the city's powerful merchant families. Often the buildings on the sides of the carruggio overlooked it with a portico, which although it was for public use was built independently by the owner of each building, as can be seen from the fact that the style of each piece of portico changes when moving from one building to another, as can be seen very well for example in the historic center of Chiavari. A glimpse of Piazza dell’Orologio from via dei Banchi Nuovi in Rome. Getting lost in the eternal city is probably the most refined way to explore hidden art and history. Every glimpse, every alley, every square… hides some ancient or very ancient masterpiece. Here we are in the Ponte neighborhood, so called because of the original presence (later excluded), within its borders, of Ponte Sant’Angelo.

Piazza dell’Orologio (formerly also called Piazza dei Rigattieri and Piazza di Monte Giordano) is a square located between Via dei Banchi Nuovi and Via del Governo Vecchio, and Via di Monte Giordano in Rome in the Ponte district. The name of the square derives from the clock placed on the tower of the Filippini convent, built by Francesco Borromini in 1648, under the clock face, there is a mosaic by Pietro da Cortona depicting the “Madonna della Vallicella”. Discovering the caruggio of Sestri Levante, a marvel of Liguria. Perhaps the title came out a little too high-sounding but I truly believe that the caruggio of my town is one of the most beautiful in Liguria. If you then add that it is used to reach the Baia del Silenzio then you cannot help but agree with me!

The city was one of the cultural capitals of the fourteenth century, thanks to the presence of the lordship of the Carraresi or Da Carrara, who made Padua one of the main centers of pre-humanism. Between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, an impressive cultural movement devoted to the ancient developed in conjunction with Florence, which would transform into the Paduan Renaissance and influence the artistic landscape of the entire northern Italy of the fifteenth century. In Padua there are two sites declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO: the botanical garden, the oldest in the world, and the cycles of frescoes from the fourteenth century, preserved in eight building complexes including the Scrovegni Chapel. The High Altar of the Church of Santo Stefano in Genoa. Many times I have been on the large terrace of this church to photograph via XX Settembre from above but very few times have I managed to enter this church. Some time ago, taking advantage of the event “Le chiese dei Rolli”, I was able to visit it and I was fascinated by it. The interior is very sparse but colossal.

Famous for its historical monuments, it is one of the few provincial capitals to preserve the historic center, rich in ancient structures from various eras, completely surrounded by a sixteenth-century wall that is intact and almost unchanged over the centuries. It is a notable city of art in Italy. Continue and learn more on Wikipedia
