The village of Vernazza in the Cinque Terre in June 2020.
The Cinque Terre are certainly among the most famous Ligurian locations in the world.
This is Vernazza and I photographed it a few days ago during a walk along the paths that connect the five villages.
In my opinion Vernazza is probably the most beautiful of the five.

Here is where the village is located:
Starting from the West, it is the second of the villages that make up the Cinque Terre, nestled in a bay between the municipalities of Monterosso al Mare and Riomaggiore. It also includes the next village of Corniglia, its hamlet.

According to some historical sources, the toponym of the town derives from Bulnetia or Bodetia, names that appear in some writings of the early Middle Ages. Other sources, considered more valid, would instead lead to the ancient term Vallis Bonazolae, indicating that coastal area between the present-day towns of Framura, to the west, and Levanto to the east.

The village of Vernazza seen from Punta Baffe.

We are now used to aerial views taken from drones, and they are truly spectacular.
I, who do not have a drone, have to make do (as we used to do once) with views from above or from afar.
I took this one last summer, I hope you like it even though the colors are not exceptional due to the humidity which made it difficult to take good shots with the telephoto lens.

Monterosso vista da Punta Mesco seconda foto.
Questa è la seconda foto di Monterosso che avevo scattato a settembre (ma che vi pubblico ora per farvi e farmi venire nostalgia sia di casa sia dell’estate).
E’ scattata da Punta Mesco, il capo che sta tra Levanto e le Cinque Terre.
E’ un sentiero bello ma veramente molto lungo (che forse un giorno verrà sostituito dal transito attraverso la vecchia ferrovia a mare, come tra Framura e Levanto) e un pochino duro… specialmente la parte finale (per me era la finale) in discesa tra la Punta e il paese.
La vista però è veramente impareggiabile specialmente il colore dell’acqua è meraviglioso.

Facendo il sentiero che da Levanto va a Monterosso, all’altezza di Punta Mesco, c’è una splendida veduta delle Cinque Terre tutte.
Questa è Vernazza!
Purtroppo l’umidità e la grande distanza (senza considerare che non avevo nemmeno il cavalletto) non l’hanno resa una foto memorabile in qualità ma carina ugualmente, credo. Se non altro insolita!

Monterosso vista da Punta Mesco.
Ho già scattato diverse e belle foto su Monterosso ma questa è davvero nuova per me.
E’ scattata da Punta Mesco, il capo che sta tra Levanto e le Cinque Terre.

Mare trasparente a Monterosso.
Tutte le volte che faccio una gita alle Cinque Terre mi stupisco sempre del mare in questo punto di Monterosso.
E’ il luogo più fotografato, ovviamente, specialmente il grande scoglio che sta proprio di fronte alla stazione ferroviaria.
Qui, complice il fondo si sassolini chiari, l’acqua risulta quasi sempre limpidissima.
Quando ho scattato queste foto era tardo pomeriggio, forse il momento ideale per un tuffo qui… quando i turisti cominciano a lasciare il piccolo borgo per tornare nei paesi di alloggio.

Dove si trova Monterosso:
Lettini e obrelloni chiusi a Monterosso.
Nel tardo pomeriggio a Monterosso, una delle Cinque Terre, gli ombrelloni sono già chiusi (a dire la verità erano già le otto e mezza di sera) ma l’atmosfera fa proprio venire voglia di fare ancora un bagno.

The Monterosso Rock in the Cinque Terre
Late afternoon in the Cinque Terre and I take a photo of the maritime symbol of Monterosso: the rock that is to the west of the beach in front of the station.
As you can see there are also some girls, surely some of the many tourists who frequent these small Ligurian villages, who are taking pictures.
At this time of day it is a really beautiful place. I could stay for hours watching the gentle waves of the sea slowly move.
As you can see I also colored a little in HDR.
