Breakfast in a typical Vietnamese cafe.
When I was in Vietnam last year with my wife, we had breakfast a few times in one of the many typical cafes.
They are meeting and relaxation places, often with a pond with carp, where people spend a couple of hours sipping the typical Vietnamese drink or (like me) a more Western cappuccino accompanied by a dessert.

Una colazione alla vietanamita con i tortelli bánh bột lọc.
Questa mattina mi sono svegliata con la voglia di mangiare qualcosa di buono e che mi ricordasse casa mia.
Così mi sono ricordata di avere in freezer alcuni tortelli di gamberi e pancetta che avevo preparato qualche tempo fa (ecco la recipe) e, dopo averli riscaldati passandoli qualche minuto in padella, sono stati un buon modo per cominciare la giornata!

La colazione in un famoso hotel di Da Nang in Vietnam.
Vi mando un buongiorno con una foto che ho scattato qualche tempo fa in Vietnam.
Eravamo andati in un albergo a cinque stelle per fare la colazione e passare un paio d’ore di relax.
Purtroppo non ricordo il nome dell’hotel (forse chi mi segue su Instagram si ricorda che vi avevo gia’ postato una foto da li’) ma era veramente bello.

Frutta tropicale in Vietnam.
Una colazione molto fresca ricevuta durante la gita lungo il delta del Mekong: ananas, dragon fruit, lycis, mango e papaia.
In mezzo ai piatti, se vi piace, una cosa tipica vietnamita: un piattino con del sale misto a polvere di peperoncino.
Tutto molto invitante, non sembra anche a voi?

Colazione in Vietnam: il pho bo.
Un classico della colazione vietnamita è questa zuppa di noodles e manzo. Ovviamente piccante.
La mia Dao mi dice che questo, in particolare, era stato preparato al Nord dove i noodles sono simili a tagliolini (e si chiamano pho). Al Sud del paese invece sono più simili a spaghetti (e si chiamano Bun).
La zuppa non ha nome: il nome del piatto è composto da noodles e manzo (bo).

Breakfast with Swiss croissants.
One of the typical savory croissants that can be enjoyed in almost all cafés in Switzerland.
As I already wrote in another post, it is one of my favorite croissants and these are the ones that my parents, returning from a family weekend across the Alps, brought me for breakfast.
Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find savory croissants here, they are almost always sweet and filled (with cream, chocolate or jam). These are always empty.

There are persistent folk tales that mistakenly attribute the origin and shape of the croissant to the celebration of the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in the siege of Vienna in 1683 or the siege of Budapest in 1686. According to these stories, a baker who was working at night heard the sound of the Turks digging an underground tunnel. As a reward for saving the city, the baker received the exclusive right to produce crescent-shaped pastries to commemorate the event. However, there are no original contemporary sources to confirm any of these stories.

Bacon and eggs

Bacon and eggs, eggs and bacon and bread.
A dish with bacon and eggs placed on some bread.
It is usually eaten for breakfast but sometimes, when I am not very hungry and have no ideas, it is my dinner.

Bacon and eggs

It is also a really simple dish to make. The only precaution, with the bacon, is not to burn it. I recommend low heat especially if, as in this case, it was quite thick.
The bread is simple packaged bread and toasted in the toaster. The eggs (in this case organic, provided by a dear friend of my dad) cooked in the fat melted from the bacon.
Easy peasy!
