The view of Chiavari and the Gulf of Tigullio di Levante from the Santuario delle Grazie.
Some time ago, returning from Genoa along the Via Aurelia, I stopped at the Santuario della Madonna delle Grazie to admire and photograph the beautiful city of Chiavari from one of the most panoramic points there is.
I didn't have a telephoto lens but a 50mm fixed but the quality of the shots seemed good to me!

Here is where the Sanctuary is located:

The sanctuary of Nostra Signora delle Grazie is a Catholic place of worship located in the town of Grazie in the municipality of Chiavari, in the metropolitan city of Genoa. The building is located along the state road 1 Via Aurelia, in a stretch where the coast rises steeply above the sea, with a wooded slope. The sanctuary dominates the sea, and is still clearly visible to sailors today as in the past.

Chiavari seen from the Aurelia towards the Grazie.
One of the most beautiful points from which to photograph Chiavari is the climb on the Aurelia that leads to the Santuario delle Grazie.
If you come at sunset the colors are truly spectacular.

La passeggiata a mare dalla Torre Fara a Chiavari

The seafront promenade from Torre Fara to Chiavari.
The last stretch of the promenade in Chiavari which was restored a couple of years ago.
In addition to Torre Fara (formerly Colonia Fara) there are also a couple of buildings in unusual styles and colors.

The structure, dedicated to the memory of General Gustavo Fara, was commissioned by the National Fascist Party in 1935 as a seaside holiday resort for children, to be used mainly in the summer. The building, an example of Italian rationalism, was designed by Camillo Nardi Greco and Lorenzo Castello and was built between 1935 and 1936.

The Colonia Fara of Chiavari dalle Grazie at sunset.
A few months ago, returning from Genoa, I exited the highway at Rapallo to take a stretch of the Aurelia that I hadn't traveled for a long time.
Just after the Santuario delle Grazie there is a place where you can leave the car and take some photos, from above, of the splendid Chiavari.
In these three shots the Ex Colonia Fara kissed by a September sun at sunset.

The Ex Colonia Fara also has an official website: torrefara.com.

The Fara colony, renamed Fara tower, is an Italian civil building in Chiavari. Born as a summer colony in the fascist era, it served as a youth hotel after the war and was gradually abandoned and decayed.

Lavagna e Chiavari da Sant’Anna

Lavagna e Chiavari da Sant’Anna.
Quando si sale fino alle Rocche di Sant’Anna, lungo la antica via Aurelia che passava sopra alle attuali gallerie stradali, si gode di una splendida vista sia su Sestri Levante a Levante sia su Lavagna e Chiavari a Ponente.
Con il mio teleobiettivo, in una giornata non molto afosa, è uscito anche uno scatto decente nel quale, nonostante la prospettiva sia rimasta un pochino schiacciata, si vede bene il porto di Lavagna e la Colonia Fara.

When you climb up to the Rocche di Sant’Anna, along the ancient Via Aurelia that passed over the current road tunnels, you can enjoy a splendid view of both Sestri Levante in the Levante and Lavagna and Chiavari in the Ponente.
With my telephoto lens, on a not very sultry day, a decent shot came out in which, despite the perspective being a little squashed, you can clearly see the port of Lavagna and the Colonia Fara.

La Colonia Fara, restaurata, a Chiavari.
Da qualche mese la Colonia Fara, fa bella mostra di se nella nuova passeggiata a mare di Preli.
Erano molti anni che la zona era degradata e la ristrutturazione ha dato nuovo slancio a questa parte della bella Chiavari forse poco conosciuta dai turisti (che di solito si gettano tra i carruggi del centro).

Chiavari e il suo porto visti da Sestri Levante

Chiavari e il suo porto visti da Sestri Levante.
Nelle giornate invernali di bel tempo si riesce quasi sempre ad arrivare con l’occhio elettronico dei teleobiettivi molto distante.
Le immagini, come questa, magari non sono proprio nitidissime ma il risultato è comunque originale.
In questa, realizzata direttamente dalla passeggiata a mare della mia Sestri Levante, si vede in primis la fitta rete di alberi e pennoni delle barche ormeggiate nel porticciolo chiavarese e, alle sue spalle, l’alto ed inconfondibile palazzo conosciuto da tutti come la Colonia Fara.

La spiaggia di Preli a Chiavari

La spiaggia di Preli a Chiavari.
Un paio di settimane fa sono stato a passeggiare di giorno verso la nuova passeggiata di Chiavari, quella di Preli dove c’è stata la riqualificazione dell’area e della struttura della Colonia Fara.
Anche la spiaggetta non è poi così male anche se le barriere di scogli di fronte penalizzano un pochino la bellezza del mare a vantaggio della sicurezza durante le mareggiate.

La struttura, intitolata alla memoria del generale Gustavo Fara, fu commissionata dal Partito Nazionale Fascista nel 1935 come luogo e soggiorno di villeggiatura marinaro per bambini, da utilizzarsi prevalentemente nel periodo estivo.

The beach in front of Colonia Fara

La spiaggia di fronte alla Colonia Fara a Chiavari.
Chiavari non è certo una cittadina ligure famosa per le spiagge ma comunque anche qui ci sono zone dove sembra bello farsi un bel tuffo.
Questa è la spiaggetta che sta tra la Colonia Fara, la costruzione fascista ristrutturata recentemente, e la piazzetta dei Pescatori (che però mi sa che si chiama Piazza Davide Gagliardo).
Non sarebbe stato proprio male farsi un bagnetto…
