The great model of the former Costa Firenze

Il grande modello della ex Costa Firenze

The large model of the former Costa Firenze.
Last year I was on board the beautiful, in my opinion, Costa Firenze which unfortunately passed to Carnival in February 2024.
This was the large model of the ship that was present on the main deck of the ship itself.
Now have they changed the name on the model too?

When I was on board the Costa Firenze a couple of years ago I took many photos of the ship while it was in port.
In this case the beautiful ship was in the port of Las Palma de Gran Canaria, in Spain.

Halloween on board a Costa cruise ship

Halloween a bordo di una nave da crociera Costa

Halloween aboard a Costa cruise ship.
Since today is Halloween I decided to show you some decorations that last year adorned the beautiful ship where I worked at this same time: the Costa Firenze.
In every bar and in all the common areas, many pumpkins reminded everyone of All Saints' Day.

This was the main atrium, the one with the information office, excursion office and bar, in the center of which was this column surmounted by a majestic golden lion.

Dante and especially these two of a girl walking her dog (which were at the Sunset Bar) that reminded me so much of my wife walking our pitbull.

Stir-fried rice noodles with egg also on board

Noodles di riso saltati in padella anche a bordo

Stir-fried rice noodles with egg also on board.
On the former Costa Firenze (a ship built for the Asian cruise market) there was also a small restaurant in the pool that prepared noodles and quick Asian dishes in the evenings.
Stir-fried rice noodles with egg are a versatile and nutritious dish, perfect for those looking for a quick and tasty meal. Originally from Asian cuisine, these noodles have become popular around the world thanks to their simplicity and unique taste.
This dish is ideal for a variety of occasions, whether it's a quick lunch at home, a casual dinner with friends or even a meal to enjoy while traveling. The combination of rice noodles, fresh vegetables and eggs offers a perfect balance of carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins, making it a healthy and complete option.
One of the most appreciated features of stir-fried rice noodles with egg is their convenience. They are easy to prepare and can be stored in an airtight container, keeping their flavour intact. This also makes them perfect for eating on board, whether it is a boat, train or plane trip. Their lightness and ease of transport make them a great choice for those who are always on the go.
The secret to the success of this dish lies in its ability to combine different flavours and textures. The rice noodles, with their soft texture, go perfectly with the crunchy vegetables and creamy eggs. The addition of soy sauce and sesame oil gives the dish a rich and aromatic flavor, which satisfies even the most demanding palates.
Stir-fried rice noodles with egg are a dish that combines convenience and taste, ideal for any occasion. Their versatility and unique flavor make them a winning choice for those looking for a quick, nutritious and delicious meal.

The former Costa Firenze in port in Funchal

La ex Costa Firenze in porto a Funchal

The former Costa Firenze in port in Funchal.
When I was working on the former Costa Firenze last year I took lots of photos of the ship from the various ports I went out to.
For a sailor, especially a Costa Crociere one like me, the yellow funnel is a point of reference when you go out for a walk.
I took these photos from the Fort of St. James (Fortaleza de São Tiago) in Funchal on the Portuguese island of Madeira.

When the sea is rough while sailing

Quando il mare è agitato in navigazione

When the sea is rough while sailing.
Those who decide to take a cruise must always take into account that the ship is on the sea and the weather is always unpredictable.
It doesn't matter if you are in the immense Ocean or in the more reassuring Adriatic Sea: when nature decides to raise the wind and the waves start to increase, the ship begins to rock.
No problem though: modern ships are so large (and have stabilization systems) that the wave motion makes them move very little compared to the past! but they do move a little!
What to do? Don't think about it too much and let yourself be lulled by the movement!

I took these photos last year from my ex Costa Firenze.

An excellent Angus fillet enjoyed on board the ex Costa Firenze.
When I manage to eat at the steakhouse on board one of our ships I always order the fillet because it is the cut of meat that I love the most.
Don't these photos make your mouth water?

And it's just one of the many culinary offerings of Costa Crociere (here to see some).

Departure from Geiranger from Costa Firenze

La partenza da Geiranger dalla Costa Firenze

Departure from Geiranger from the Costa Firenze.
Surely one of the most unforgettable stretches of sea in the world is when the ship leaves from the small town of Geiranger and, traveling along the famous Geirangerfiord, passes between the two famous waterfalls (the Seven Sisters and the Pretender).
In this photo, taken from the stern of the former Costa Firenze, all the colors of Northern Europe.

Where is the village located:

The Geirangerfjord (Geirangerfjorden) is a fjord in the Norwegian region of Sunnmøre in the south of the county of Møre og Romsdal. It is a branch of the much larger Storfjorden and within it is the famous village of Geiranger. The fjord is one of the most visited natural sites in Norway and since 2005 it is included, together with the Nærøyfjord, in the List of World Heritage Sites drawn up by UNESCO. The presence of these two fjords in the list is however threatened by a plan to build some power lines through the fjord.
