The massive façade of the Milan Cathedral. The façade of the Milan Cathedral, officially known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is one of the most extraordinary examples of Gothic architecture in Italy. Construction of the Cathedral began in 1386 and the façade, which is one of the most iconic parts of the building, was completed in 1805. The façade of the Milan Cathedral is a true mosaic of architectural styles, the result of centuries of work and different influences. Initially designed in Gothic style, the façade underwent numerous modifications over the centuries, incorporating elements of the Renaissance, Baroque and Neo-Gothic. This mix of styles makes the façade of the Cathedral unique in its kind, testifying to the complex construction history of the complex. The façade is characterized by five sections that suggest the presence of the internal naves, with six buttresses surmounted by spires. The five portals and the windows above date back to the 17th century, while the central balcony is from 1790 and the three neo-Gothic windows are from the 19th century. The bas-relief decoration of the portals was sculpted at the time of Archbishop Borromeo based on designs by Cerano, and the statues of the Apostles and Prophets on the consoles are all from the 19th century. One of the distinctive features of the façade of Milan Cathedral is the extraordinary abundance of sculptures. These works, which cover a time span from the 14th to the 20th century, were created by masters of various origins. The stained glass windows, also part of the grandiose decorative cycle, have been replaced over the centuries, with few original examples from the 15th and 16th centuries still visible.

Saint Lawrence was one of the seven deacons of Rome, where he was martyred in 258 during the persecution ordered by the Roman Emperor Valerian in 257. The Catholic Church venerates him as a saint. Since the 4th century, Lawrence has been one of the most venerated martyrs in the Church of Rome. Constantine I was the first to build a small oratory on the site of his martyrdom. This building was enlarged and embellished by Pelagius II (579-590). Continue and learn more on Wikipedia

The magnificent cathedral of Barcelona. Barcelona Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia, is one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, the cathedral is a magnificent example of Catalan Gothic architecture. Construction of the cathedral began in the 13th century and was completed in the 15th century. The main façade, with its intricate spires and stained glass windows, is one of the most iconic images of Barcelona. The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Eulalia, a young Christian martyr whose relics are kept in the crypt. The interior of the cathedral is equally impressive, with an ornate vaulted ceiling and numerous side chapels. Among the works of art housed inside, the carved wooden choir and the silver altarpiece of Saint Anne stand out. The stained glass windows add a touch of color and light to the sacred environment. One of the most fascinating elements of the cathedral is the cloister, an oasis of tranquility in the heart of the city. The cloister is known for its garden, which is home to thirteen white geese, the symbol of Saint Eulalia, who was thirteen years old at the time of her martyrdom. The cathedral is open to visitors every day, and tickets can be purchased online or directly on site. Guided tours are available in several languages and offer insights into the history and architecture of the place.

The cathedral has been dedicated to the Santa Creu (Holy Cross) since 599, remembered every 3rd of May with a solemn blessing given to the entire city from the terraces of the church. Since 877, the church has also been dedicated to Saint Eulalia, the patron saint of Barcelona (12th February), a saint who was martyred in Roman times. Legend has it that the woman was exposed naked until, in mid-spring, snow fell to cover her body; the authorities of the time put her in a barrel with nails and rolled it down a narrow street that is now called Baixada de Santa Eulàlia. The dedication to the Holy Cross dates back to at least the 6th century. Continue and learn more on Wikipedia

The bell tower of San Lorenzo seen from the esplanade of Castelletto. The city of Genoa, with its historical and architectural charm, offers numerous panoramic points from which to admire its beauties. One of the most evocative is undoubtedly the Spianata di Castelletto, a panoramic terrace that offers a breathtaking view of the city and the sea. Among the many buildings that stand out on the horizon, the majestic bell tower of the Cathedral of San Lorenzo stands out. From the Spianata di Castelletto, the bell tower of San Lorenzo rises with its characteristic Gothic structure, characterized by horizontal black and white bands. This bell tower, an integral part of the cathedral, is one of the most significant examples of Gothic architecture in Italy. Its grandeur and elegance immediately capture the attention of anyone who happens to admire the panorama from the esplanade. The Cathedral of San Lorenzo is the main Catholic place of worship in Genoa and its construction dates back to the 9th century. However, the Gothic bell tower was added only later, in the 13th century, and is a perfect example of how medieval architecture has evolved over the centuries. The black and white bands that decorate the bell tower are typical of the Genoese style and give the building a unique and recognizable look. The Spianata di Castelletto is not only a panoramic point, but also a place of peace and tranquility where Genoese and tourists can relax and enjoy the view. The terrace is easily accessible and offers a 360-degree view of the city, allowing you to admire not only the bell tower of San Lorenzo, but also other historic buildings such as the Palazzo Ducale and the Torre Grimaldina. Visiting the Spianata di Castelletto and admiring the bell tower of San Lorenzo is an experience that allows you to fully appreciate the beauty and history of Genoa. This panoramic point offers a unique perspective on the city and its architectural treasures, making every visit an unforgettable moment.

The Colleoni Chapel in Piazza Duomo in Bergamo Alta. For the first time in my life I visited the upper part of the city of Bergamo. Honestly, even though it was almost evening, I was amazed by the beauty of the village; I say village because the upper part, perched on a hill and surrounded by walls, seems more like a village than a city. This is one of the main squares of the city: Piazza del Duomo.

The splendid Duomo of Florence in all its magnificence. I still had a couple of beautiful photos to publish from the last trip I had made to the Tuscan capital. And obviously they are of the symbolic monument of the city: the Duomo of Santa Maria in Fiore. A less classic photo, the first, lateral and a more classic one, the second, also with the Baptistery.
