This type of salad is mainly characterized by the presence of feta, a typical Greek goat cheese, which is added in cubes or slices. The main ingredients are tomato, sliced cucumber, onion, feta, olives (typically Kalamata olives), salt, oregano, olive oil. There are many variations, for example in the Greek islands pickled capers and their leaves are often added, while in northern Greece it is common to add peppers.
