The alleyway of the village of Sestri Levante in Liguria. When I'm at home, almost every morning, I go downtown for a walk and a coffee. I like to take a walk when there are few people and this happens especially in winter. When sunny days happen, like the one on the day I took this photo, it is one of my favorite subjects for shots.

The Bay of Silence in Sestri Levante in February. There are times of the year and certain days that the Bay is even more beautiful. Like the day I took these photos (and many others that I will slowly add); it was February 24, 2024 and it was a truly beautiful morning with the sun behind us.

La Baia del Silenzio di Sestri Levante il primo febbraio 2024. Il simbolo della mia Sestri è la Baia del Silenzio. In inverno, questa foto l’ho scattata pochi giorni fa, è un luogo spesso deserto (ma solo durante la settimana e alla mattina) e si può fare una passeggiata lungo il mare senza incontrare anima viva.

The beach of the village of Camogli in Liguria photographed in winter. Last year I had a lot of time at home to visit many of the villages of my Eastern Liguria. One of the ones I like to photograph the most is Camogli and the classic photograph of the bay with the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta in the background.

The most significant architectural aspect of the town is the presence of colored buildings overlooking the beach. The colors and the lighter horizontal lines (called string courses) served the sailors of Camogli to more easily recognize their home among the various floors of the buildings in the village and return there after fishing. La spiaggia di Ponente di Riva Trigoso. Una bella foto invernale della bella spiaggia (quella che da molti viene chiamata la spiaggia del bunker) fotografata lo scorso inverno (l’11 febbraio 2021). Ho sempre moltissime foto che scatto ma riesco a pubblicare solo molto tempo successivamente.

Cows in the snow at Passo di Centocroci. Last winter I had already been to Passo di Centocroci (which divides Liguria from Emilia Romagna) for a little trip in the snow. Luckily there was still a lot of it, or at least enough to take many photos. Like this one in which you can see some cows, outside the stable, warming themselves under a pale winter sun.

The name of the Passo di Cento Croci is to be found among various popular stories, legends and beliefs. Among the ancient stories, the best known is the one that recalls a band of brigands that operated along the Apennine ridge and that would have killed, during its ferocious raids, more than one hundred wayfarers: hence the corresponding one hundred crosses placed as a warning and remained in the name of the pass. Snow at Passo Centocroci last winter. Last winter, after a very long time, I went for a walk in the snow. Thanks to a nice snowfall we went (with some friends) to the Centocroci pass near Varese Ligure. Lots of snow and photos with white as the protagonist!

The Centocroci Pass (Sentu Cruxe in Ligurian) is a mountain pass located at an altitude of 1055 metres above sea level that separates the Val di Vara from Emilia, opening onto the ridge a few kilometres north-west of Mount Gottero, in the Ligurian Apennines. Continue and learn more on Wikipedia

Una foglia sulla neve. Dal momento che siamo da poco entrati nell’estate ho pensato giusto di pubblicare oggi una bella foto che ho scattato lo scorso inverno in quel di Santo Stefano D’Aveto. Era una foglia, caduta da un albero, appoggiata sulla neve fresca. L’inverno scorso, sfruttando i giorni di colore giallo e di forte neve, ero stato con i miei amici nell’entroterra per fare una gitarella sulla neve.
Chiavari e il suo porto visti da Sestri Levante. Nelle giornate invernali di bel tempo si riesce quasi sempre ad arrivare con l’occhio elettronico dei teleobiettivi molto distante. Le immagini, come questa, magari non sono proprio nitidissime ma il risultato è comunque originale. In questa, realizzata direttamente dalla passeggiata a mare della mia Sestri Levante, si vede in primis la fitta rete di alberi e pennoni delle barche ormeggiate nel porticciolo chiavarese e, alle sue spalle, l’alto ed inconfondibile palazzo conosciuto da tutti come la Colonia Fara.
