The view of the Grecino Bridge in Varese Ligure.
One of the symbols of the Borgo Rotondo (this is the name given to the beautiful Varese Ligure, famous for its circular-shaped historic center) is certainly the old bridge that connects the actual village to the Grecino neighborhood, separated by the Crovana stream that shortly after flows into the Vara.

Here's where the town is located:

Borgo Rotondo in the historic center of Varese. Commissioned by the Fieschi family for the control and defense of the Varese territory, it is made up of identical stone houses arranged along the perimeter which, with an elliptical shape, enclose the two main squares (Piazza Fieschi and Piazza Castello), where the commercial activities, warehouses and laboratories were located in the underlying porticoes.

Un vicolo del centro storico del bel borgo di Brugnato che passa sotto ad un arco decisamente basso.

Between the 7th and 8th centuries, following the conquest of Liguria by the Lombards, the Columban monks of Bobbio, who followed the rule of Saint Columbanus and continued their work of evangelization, built a monastery that over time grew to become a religious and economic nerve center. The birth of Brugnato is therefore linked to the foundation of the abbey which, like other monastic sites in Liguria and northern Italy, depended on the abbey of San Colombano di Bobbio.

Una piazza molto moderna che ho incontrato girando a Levante del centro di La Spezia.
Non sono riuscito a trovare molte informazioni a riguardo ma immagino sia utilizzata per un qualche mercato o attività’ al coperto avendo questa struttura che fa da tetto.

L’Ancona di Andrea della Robbia a La Spezia

L’Ancona di Andrea della Robbia a La Spezia.
Una delle cose più belle, artisticamente parlando, che ho potuto vedere nella città di La Spezia (ovviamente ce ne saranno molte altre e anche di maggior pregio e che mi ripropongo di potervi descrivere in un’altra occasione) e’ questa bella terracotta invetriata che e’ conservata nella chiesa abbaziale di Santa Maria Assunta.
Raffigura la Incoronazione della Vergine tra Angeli, Santi e lo Spirito Santo.
Realizzata da Andrea della Robbia (nipote del piu famoso artista fiorentino Luca della Robbia).

Nella sua parte superiore è collocata la figura della Vergine, contornata da una moltitudine di angeli, al cospetto del Signore in trono che la incorona. Al centro della scena lo Spirito Santo in forma di colomba. Nella parte inferiore sono figure di sei santi: tre francescani (S.Francesco, S.Bernardino e S.Antonio), San Giovanni Battista e Santa Maria Maddalena. A cornice della terracotta è posta una ghirlanda di frutta e foglie ad alto rilievo. Perduta per sempre è invece la predella inferiore (collocazione: navata sinistra).

L’installazione di Daniel Buren in piazza Verdi alla Spezia.
passeggiando, ormai molti mesi fa, per la Spezia ho incontrato questa moderna installazione artistica che ovviamente non ho potuto non fotografare.
E’ stata inaugurata nel 2016 per la riqualificazione urbana di piazza Verdi e devo ammettere che, nonostante le polemiche sorte a suo tempo (leggevo online) a me piace molto.

Daniel Buren (Boulogne-Billancourt, 25 marzo 1938) è un pittore e scultore francese. Negli anni ’80 ha abbandonato la pittura in favore delle installazioni architettoniche permanenti su spazi pubblici, tra cui Les Deux Plateaux al Palais-Royal di Parigi.

Il borgo rotondo di Varese Ligure ripreso dal drone.
Diverso tempo fa ormai ho scattato alcune foto (e video) con il mio drone, nel bel borgo di varese Ligure in provincia di La Spezia.
Purtroppo, le regole di utilizzo, non mi permettevano di volare più in alto ma dalla foto si vede bene uno spicchio delle case che compongono il famoso “Borgorotondo” e la altrettanto famosa piazza Fieschi.

In piazza Verdi, nel centro di La Spezia, sorge questo grande palazzo di chiara ispirazione neoclassico/fascista progettato da Angiolo Mazzoni inaugurato nel novembre 1933.

Il palazzo, arretrato rispetto alla linea prospettica degli altri edifici presenti lungo il lato della piazza, è rialzato da un’ampia scalinata rispetto al piano stradale.
Con pianta a U e a quattro piani, l’edificio è definito da volumi squadrati, alleggeriti da una serie di nove nicchie in facciata che ospitano altrettante alte aperture ad arco sormontate da finestre

Uno scorcio di Tellaro, splendido borgo marinaro in Liguria

A glimpse of Tellaro, a splendid seaside village in Liguria.
One of the Ligurian seaside villages with the most creuze and alleys that I can remember visiting.
In the province of La Spezia and perched on a small promontory overlooking the sea, it has a small labyrinth of stairs, arches and alleys in which it is wonderful to get lost.

Tellaro is the easternmost hamlet of the municipality of Lerici, in the province of La Spezia. It has been reviewed as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
The town is a small seaside village, perched on a cliff overlooking the Gulf of La Spezia. A destination for many Italian and foreign artists, Mario Soldati found a home here during the long years of his old age.

Il primo nucleo originario del castello, che è stato ricostruito e modificato nel corso dei secoli successivi, sorse nel 1262 per volere di Nicolò Fieschi, che, volendo instaurare la sua Signoria guelfa sulla Spezia, fece ampliare un vecchio forte altomedievale che già esisteva sul colle del Poggio.
