The Passion Facade of the Sagrada Familia

La Facciata della Passione della Sagrada Familia a Barcellona

The Passion Facade of the Sagrada Familia
One of Gaudí's masterpieces recognized throughout the world is the Sagrada Familia.
The eternally unfinished Spanish cathedral.
This is one of the many facades, dedicated to the Passion of Christ, surmounted by four of the church's many towers.

Where is the cathedral located:

The Passion façade was begun in 1954 according to the drawings and explanations that Gaudí had left. The towers were finished in 1976 and since then work has been carried out on the sculptural decoration. Gaudí designed this façade while recovering from Malta fever in Puigcerdà in 1911. Dedicated to the Passion of Jesus, it aims to reflect the suffering of Christ in his crucifixion, as a ransom for the sins of men.

The beautiful and renovated Villa Schiaffino in Deiva Marina

La bella e rinnovata Villa Schiaffino a Deiva Marina

The beautiful and renovated Villa Schiaffino in Deiva Marina.
This beautiful villa, in the seaside center of the village of Deiva, caught my attention.
Doing some research I discovered that it is called Villa Schiaffino (built by the homonymous family of shipowners from Camogli) and that in the mid-2010s it was demolished and rebuilt, identical to the previous one, but with all the improvements that modernity has been able to bring.
Among other things, the photo, processed in HDR, looks like one of those advertising postcards from the last century even if I took it last autumn.

The Schiaffino family, shipowners from Camogli, built the Villa in “liberty” style in 1925-27, when the retreat of the railway made the coast available for residential use. The small garden was decorated with palm trees and borders a ruined coastal tower. In the 1980s the Villa was abandoned and rapidly deteriorated.

The Ribaudo Kiosk in Palermo

Chiosco Ribaudo di Palermo

The Ribaudo kiosk in Palermo.
In the city of Palermo you often come across very artistic little kiosks.
I have never been able to understand their history and some time ago, when I was in the city by ship, I photographed one in front of the Politeama Garibaldi Theater, right in the center.
Searching a bit on the internet I found that these liberty monuments were built to sell drinks and tickets. I don't think the one I photographed is used anymore. The one in front of the Teatro Massimo is now a tobacconist.
Here you can find some additional information about the kiosks: italialiberty.it and arte.it.
