The iconic view of Vernazza, pearl of the Cinque Terre of Liguria.
An iconic photo of one of the pearls of the Cinque Terre, the famous five seaside villages overlooking the sea.
It is truly a classic and on my site I have already taken several and very similar ones but I can never avoid taking them every time I visit them.

Here is where Vernazza is located:

Coming from the west, Vernazza is the second of the villages that make up the Cinque Terre, in a bay between the municipalities of Monterosso al Mare and Riomaggiore. It also includes the next village of Corniglia, a hamlet of it. Its territory is also characterized by the typical terraces for growing vines, a morphological style that, according to an estimate, is developed for over 7,000 km of dry stone walls.

The portico of the cloister of San Matteo in Genoa.
Whenever I am in Genoa with a friend who has never visited the city I always take him to see this beautiful little church, a stone's throw from Piazza De Ferrari, very spectacular.
In addition to the church, in particular, there is the splendid cloister (pictured here) which can be visited for free on the days it is open to the public.
There is also a nice official website: parrocchiasanmatteo.org.

Here is where the abbey is located:

Martino Doria, who entered the Benedictine friars of the Abbey of San Fruttuoso di Capodimonte after becoming a widower, obtained permission from Bishop Sigifredo to build a small church on land owned by the family near the Cathedral of San Lorenzo. The dedication of the new church to San Matteo was linked to his profession as a tax collector, just like the Dorias, who therefore made him their patron.

I portici di via Nuova Italia a Lavagna.
Non sono estesi come quelli di Chiavari ma anche a Lavagna c’è una bella serie di bei portici.
Questi, per esempio, sono quelli di via Nuova Italia la via carrabile parallela al caruggio che taglia in due la cittadina rivierasca.

La Fortezza di Monleone che domina il borgo di Moneglia.
Domina tutto il borgo marinaro del Levante ligure con la sua alta torre.
E’ il castello di Monleone voluto dal console di Genova Ingone di Flessa verso la fine del 1100.

La cresta del Monte Zatta in Liguria

La cresta del Monte Zatta in Liguria.
Diverso tempo fa ho percorso un sentiero che al momento e’ uno dei più belli che abbia mai fatto.
Percorre un tratto della famosa Alta Via dei Monti Liguri (segnale AV) e parte dal Passo del Bocco per arrivare alle diverse cime del massiccio dello Zatta.
Cime che, come potete vedere dalla foto, sono collegate da una lunga e spettacolare cresta rocciosa che si percorre.

The summit of the Zatta mountain massif consists of a long wavy ridge, crossed by an easy ridge path. On the outer edges of this ridge are the Zatta di Ponente mountain (1355 m) and the Prato Pinello mountain (1390 m). Between the two ends rises the main peak, the Zatta di Levante mountain (1404 m). The southern slope is steep and stony, while the northern slope, towards the Bocco pass, has a gentler slope and is covered by a large beech forest.

Dal tempo del grande afflusso di ospiti stranieri – dapprima britannici e quindi tedeschi – nei primi anni del Novecento l’economia di Portofino è strettamente legata al turismo. La locale “Piazzetta” sulla quale si affacciano i locali pubblici di ristoro, negozi, boutique e altre attività commerciali è stata nel luglio del 2012 riconosciuta come Locale storico d’Italia, primo e unico attestato rilasciato dall’omonima associazione, per il suo valore storico e culturale.

Manarola, one of the most photogenic villages of the Cinque Terre.
This shot, together with the one of the village of Vernazza going down the Sentiero Azzurro, is one of those unmissable if you visit the Cinque Terre.
And I, even though I live a few dozen kilometers away, even though I go there at least a couple of times a year for a walk, I can never avoid photographing it.

Manarola, like the other Cinque Terre, is squeezed between the Ligurian Sea and the steep mountain range that separates from the Apennines near Monte Zatta and descends in a south-east direction, acting as a watershed between the Val di Vara and the coastal area. The village is located in the final stretch of the Groppo torrent valley.

Le trofiette al pesto della Trattoria C’Era Una Volta a Genova.
Questa pasta, chiamata trofiette (o trofie o trofiette di Recco), e’ una delle piu’ classiche da accompagnare al pesto alla genovese.
Come potete vedere dalla foto il pesto in questione e’ come si usa dire “accomodato” con patate bollite e fagiolini.

Il piatto era stato gustato nella trattoria C’era una Volta, nei vicoli di Genova (pagina Facebook e recensione TripAdvisor)

La forma della pasta è data dal peculiare carattere arricciato a forma di truciolo da falegname, chiamato risso da banché. La forma e la grandezza, piuttosto ridotta, di una trofia sono fattori importanti per le sue qualità organolettiche. Le Trofie hanno una forma inconfondibile, quella che viene chiamata localmente “intursoeia” è il caratteristico attorcigliamento della parte centrale che termina con due appendici affusolate, la forma può essere paragonata a quella della spirale del cavatappi.
