Dry stone walls in Liguria.
I would almost say a tradition in Liguria, are these types of walls made dry with only stones.
I took this photo along the path that goes from Camogli to San Rocco along the route that can then also reach San Fruttuoso and Portofino.
In addition to delimiting properties, this type of wall was often used to contain the soil to build the famous terraces for cultivation.
They were made dry to allow rainwater to flow away without causing landslides.
Now they exist and you see fewer and fewer of them, unfortunately, and even in this photo the walls are not exactly the real ones I am talking about.

The dry stone wall is a particular type of wall built with blocks of stone appropriately arranged and assembled, without the use of binders or mortars of any kind. In 2018 it was included in the intangible heritage of humanity by UNESCO.
