L’obelisco dell’Immacolata in piazza del Gesù Nuovo a Napoli.
Uno dei tre obelischi o guglie presenti nella bella città partenopea.
Quando scattavo, davanti al monumento, c’erano due camionette dei pompieri che ho deciso di lasciare per ricordarci di quanto sono sempre importanti i Vigili del Fuoco.

L’obelisco dell’Immacolata (o più propriamente guglia dell’Immacolata) è un obelisco barocco di Napoli situato in piazza del Gesù Nuovo, di fronte alla chiesa omonima. Il monumento è in ordine cronologico l’ultimo dei tre grandi obelischi di Napoli, essendo stato eretto nel Settecento e dunque dopo quello di San Gennaro e San Domenico.

Ero già passato un paio di volte lungo via San Gregorio Armeno, la famosa via dei presepi di Napoli. Non avevo mai visto prima, però, il complesso religioso omonimo di cui questo è lo spettacolare ingresso.

Through the alleys of the Spanish Quarters in Naples
How beautiful it is to walk through the alleys of the Spanish quarters of Naples.
It really feels like being in a world apart: lots of tourists, lots of restaurants and businesses, and almost everywhere, Neapolitan symbols and slogans.
To tell the truth, every time I have been to Naples, I have always avoided crossing them out of mistrust. I must admit, wrongly: it is a beautiful walk and you can breathe a very Neapolitan air.

The so-called Spanish Quarters are located in the historic center of the city of Naples, and concern that part of the city's urban context comprising, mainly, the Montecalvario neighborhood, with smaller portions of the San Ferdinando and Avvocata neighborhoods.

Margherita pizza from the Dal Presidente pizzeria in Naples.
The pizza eaten in Naples, almost everywhere, is a masterpiece!
This was definitely the best I tasted in my last weekend in Naples. The margherita pizza (which then with the suggestion of the very nice waitress, became with buffalo mozzarella) of the Dal Presidente pizzeria in via dei Tribunali.
In addition to the pizza, and only for that you have to go there, the warmth of the place and the many testimonies of famous people who have eaten pizza there (the most famous is certainly Bill Clinton former American President).
I have not found an official website, I leave you the review of Tripadvisor and the page Facebook.

La facciata del Duomo di Napoli

La facciata del Duomo di Napoli.
Nella mia ultima gita nella città partenopea volevamo visitare il bel Duomo, il cui nome ufficiale è cattedrale metropolitana di Santa Maria Assunta.
Più che altro volevamo visitare e vedere il Tesoro di San Gennaro e l’ampolla del sangue.
Purtroppo c’era talmente tanta gente che non siamo riusciti a farlo ma abbiamo dovuto fare un semplice giro all’interno della chiesa e delle cappelle annesse ma non nella reale cappella.
Questa comunque è la facciata, in stile neogotico, dal colore chiarissimo.

Il duomo di Napoli, il cui nome ufficiale è cattedrale metropolitana di Santa Maria Assunta, è una basilica monumentale nonché duomo e sede dell’arcidiocesi della città di Napoli. Il duomo sorge lungo il lato est della via omonima, in una piazzetta contornata da portici, e ingloba a mo’ di cappelle laterali altri due edifici di culto sorti autonomamente rispetto alla cattedrale: la basilica di Santa Restituta, che custodisce il battistero più antico d’Occidente, quello di San Giovanni in Fonte, e la reale cappella del Tesoro di san Gennaro, che conserva le reliquie del santo patrono della città.

The tribute to Bud Spencer of the Spanish Quarters in Naples.
Walking in the Spanish Quarters of Naples I discovered this beautiful work, right next to the murals dedicated to Diego Armando Maradona, dedicated to Carlo Pedersoli aka Bud Spencer.
Created by the artist Mario Schiano.
I was really pleased to find this memory of one of my favorite Italian actors. In the film Piedone lo sbirro in fact Bud is a policeman from the city of Naples.

The ancient pizzeria Di Matteo in Naples

The ancient pizzeria Di Matteo in Naples.
This is one of the most famous pizzerias in the Neapolitan capital and this is the golden oven that welcomes customers.
Obviously the oven is used to cook the very famous Neapolitan pizza, of which I have already posted many photos recently, and in particular that of the pizzeria Di Matteo (review by TripAdvisor).
