The Arch of Victory of Genoa, also known as the Monument to the Fallen, is located in the central and large Piazza della Vittoria in Genoa.
A monument dedicated to the fallen of the First World War, inaugurated on May 31, 1931.
Passing in front of it this morning I could not help but photograph it.

It's difficult to go to Rome and not go and admire the Fountain of the Four Rivers, located in the centre of Piazza Navona: it is a gigantic monument, designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in the 17th century and depicting the 4 most important waterways in the world.
The photo depicts the Rio de La Plata, which – according to a legend that I don’t think is well-founded but is still fun – was sculpted in this curious position because it was trying to protect itself from the collapse of the bell tower of the church of Sant’Agnese in Agone opposite, built by Bernini’s historic rival, Francesco Borromini.

The Fountain of the Four Rivers (or simply the Fountain of the Rivers) is located in Rome in the centre of Piazza Navona, in front of the church of Sant’Agnese in Agone (a church designed by Francesco Borromini), and was conceived and shaped by the sculptor and architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

La rievocazione storica del matrimonio di Opizzo Fieschi e il tradizionale gioco che si tiene nella piazza di Lavagna attira sempre molte persone, come ieri sera.

E’ la principale piazza di Genova. Situata nel pieno centro della città – ed in particolare presso l’antico sestiere di Portoria, ne rappresenta il fulcro commerciale, finanziario ed economico, oltre ad essere principale punto di riferimento in occasione degli eventi più importanti della vita cittadina. La piazza, intitolata a Raffaele De Ferrari, duca di Galliera, uomo politico e banchiere, ha una forma irregolare, dovuta a successivi interventi urbanistici, che hanno determinato l’accorpamento di due aree contigue, urbanisticamente differenziate, come evidenziato anche dai diversi stili architettonici degli edifici. Occupa una superficie complessiva di circa 11.000 m².

Una delle più famose piazze di Roma e forse del mondo è sicuramente piazza di Spagna che come tutti sanno è sovrastata dalla forse ancora più famosa scalinata che conduce alla Chiesa di Trinità dei Monti.
La monumentale scalinata di 136 gradini, commissionata dal cardinale de Tencin, fu inaugurata da papa Benedetto XIII in occasione del Giubileo del 1725; essa venne realizzata (grazie a dei finanziamenti francesi del 1721-1725) per collegare l’ambasciata borbonica spagnola (a cui la piazza deve il nome) alla chiesa di Trinità dei Monti.
