Here is the spot where I took this photo:
Between the 7th and 8th centuries, following the conquest of Liguria by the Lombards, the Columban monks of Bobbio, who followed the rule of Saint Columbanus and continued their work of evangelization, built a monastery that over time grew to become a religious and economic nerve center. The birth of Brugnato is therefore linked to the foundation of the abbey which, like other monastic sites in Liguria and northern Italy, depended on the abbey of San Colombano di Bobbio.

The famous St. Peter's Square in the Vatican City in Rome. One of the monuments that you can't miss visiting in the Eternal City is definitely St. Peter's Square, a symbol of Christianity in the world. I didn't remember there being so many tourists visiting... and to think that the last time I was there I even climbed to the top of the dome and I don't remember waiting in line that long.

The very famous square, a notable example of Baroque architecture and urban planning, is dedicated to the saint of the same name and is a daily meeting point for thousands of Catholic faithful from all over the world. The space of the square is made up of two parts: the first is shaped like an inverted trapezium whose longest side corresponds to the façade with specific perspective motivations (to cancel the great distance between the square and the basilica) and the second, larger, oval-shaped part with the Egyptian obelisk in the centre. The beautiful and private Piazza Fenice in the historic center of Chiavari. One of the most beautiful squares in the historic center of Chiavari, not so frequented by passers-by accustomed to strolling along the alley, with its beautiful buildings (including the famous Palazzo dai Portici Neri, behind in these photos). I like to come and see it every now and then and I think it is one of the first posts on my site dedicated to this place.

The buildings surrounding the beautiful Campopisano square in Genoa. The historic center of Genoa is, without a doubt, a place full of surprises. One of the most beautiful places I recently discovered (discovered in the sense that after a long time I managed to photograph it too) is the beautiful Campopisano square. In this shot I took more into consideration the tall buildings that create the frame.

The area, initially cited as “Campus Sarzanni” because it was located near the square of Sarzano, was renamed Campo Pisano after the victory of the Genoese fleet over the Pisans in the battle of Meloria (1284); in fact, according to tradition, in this place, at the time just outside the walls, thousands of Pisan prisoners were confined, most of whom, having died of hunger and hardship, were buried in that same place. The statues were fundamental to the transformation of the Prato not only visually but also financially. In fact, they were paid for by individual citizens or groups upon payment of a sum that could vary between 135 and 150 zecchini and which served both for the living cost of the statue and as a contribution to the general works of the Prato.
