Una creuza di Portofino il famoso borgo ligure.
Per salire dal centro del borgo di Portofino, dalla celebre piazzetta per intenderci, al faro o anche solo alla chiesa di San Giorgio si percorre una bella creuza (la tipica stradina in salita ligure, spesso riconoscibile dal centro della carreggiata in mattoni).
Questo e’ appunto il primissimo tratto in salita.

Le case che si affacciano sul sagrato della chiesa di Santa Croce a Moneglia.
Mi piace molto questa piazzetta alla fine del caruggio del borgo marinaro di Moneglia.
Il bel sagrato della chiesa nel tipico ciottolato ligure (risseu) e’ custodito dalle case basse e colorate anche loro proprio tipiche della nostre parti.

Secondo alcune fonti la costruzione della chiesa potrebbe essere avvenuta nel 1130, mentre la parrocchia fu già esistente, secondo alcuni studiosi, dal 1033; nel 1043 divenne pieve locale con una collegiata di canonici. L’odierna chiesa fu edificata ad unica navata nel 1725 sui resti della precedente struttura crollata per motivi sconosciuti.

Le case colorate del porticciolo di Portofino.
Un classico: tutte le volte che visito il porticciolo più famoso del mondo non posso evitare di scattare una foto dal piccolo molo che vi sta di fronte. Questa volta poi, essendo gennaio, il borgo è praticamente deserto e si può scattare senza che le barche ed i turisti disturbino lo scatto.

Non credo che questa foto abbia bisogno di molte descrizioni: è lo splendido e famosissimo porticciolo del borgo marinaro di Portofino.
Le case colorate che si affacciano sul mare e che danno protezione alle barche dei pescatori (pochi) e turisti di lusso (molti).

The square and the street called Venice in Rapallo

The square and Via Venezia in Rapallo.
To tell the truth, I have been to the town of Rapallo very few times to take “urban” photos and I decided to fill this gap a couple of weeks ago.
This street (which is actually a square) is right behind the Rapallo alley and, with its nineteenth-century gazebo (in the photo you can only see a couple of supports for two mobile covers, the gazebo is a little further ahead) is one of the most visited places in the center.
I preferred to focus my attention on the small square where the town market once took place and on the beautiful houses that overlook it.

Here is where exactly this place is located:

The 19th century gazebo is located in the heart of the historic center, in Piazza Venezia, home to the daily fruit and vegetable market. Used in the past as a place of purchase for the fish market, after a radical restoration, in particular of the roof and the iron parts, it is now chosen as a venue for cultural events, exhibitions or other.

Una piazzetta di Monterosso alle Cinque Terre.
Uno scorcio di Monterosso, la prima (venendo da Genova) delle Cinque Terre.
In questo punto, tra via Roma e via Vittorio Emanuele, diverse enoteche vi possono deliziare per un aperitivo all’insegna di alcuni dei migliori vini locali le cui uve, coltivate sulle terrazze arrampicate a picco sul mare, sono da secoli trasformate in ottimi vini (quasi tutti bianchi).

La poco conosciuta piazza Marsala a Sestri Levante

La poco conosciuta piazza Marsala a Sestri Levante.
Uno dei punti più nascosti e, forse, rimasti più originali della mia cittadina.
Una vera piazzetta della Maina che si trova in un piccolo violetto che corre appena dietro alla Baia del Silenzio.

Ecco, esattamente, dove si trova la piazza:

La nascita del Marsala come vino liquoroso è incentrata e viene accreditata alla figura del commerciante inglese di Liverpool John Woodhouse il quale nel 1773 approdò nel porto di Marsala.
Secondo la tradizione, durante la sosta egli ebbe modo, insieme al resto dell’equipaggio, di gustare il vino prodotto nella zona, che veniva invecchiato in botti di legno di rovere assumendo un gusto analogo ai vini spagnoli e portoghesi molto diffusi in quel periodo in Inghilterra.

La piazzetta intitolata alla Meloria a Finalborgo

La piazzetta intitolata alla Meloria a Finalborgo.
Uno dei borghi più belli d’Italia è in provincia di Savona e si chiama Finalborgo (frazione di Finale Ligure).
Questa è una delle molte piazzette della cittadina ma la particolarità è l’andamento ondeggiante del vicolo e dei palazzi.
Stavo cercando qualcosa su Meloria, per capire se era un nome conosciuto e ho scoperto che è anche il nome di una secca, nel mare tra Liguria e Toscana, in cui ci fu anche una famosa battaglia del 1284 nella quale Genova travolse Pisa.

The Battle of Meloria was a historic naval battle involving the fleet of the Republic of Genoa and that of the Maritime Republic of Pisa. The battle, which took place on August 6, 1284 off the coast of Porto Pisano, greatly weakened the Pisan naval fleet, beginning the slow decline of Pisa as a maritime power in Italy during the Middle Ages.
