Work continues on the new bridge at Riva Trigoso. Taking a walk on the Mandrella I photographed the continuation of the new bridge at Riva Trigoso that will connect the two promenades, Ponente and Levante, on the Petronio. Two photos taken today 4 July 2016, I hope they will be appreciated!

The abandoned factory in the hamlet of Ponterotto in Sestri. A few hundred meters upstream from Santa Vittoria di Libiola there is this small group of houses, on the other side of Gromolo. The access road to these houses is a stone and brick bridge. I tried to figure out the name of the place, if it has one, and I think it is called Ponterotto.

A little further on there is one of the monuments to the golden age of the Gromolo valley, when the extraction of minerals, mainly copper, had led Libiola (this is the name of the hamlet where we find ourselves) to extract and transform minerals.
Now abandoned, along the road, there is also the abandoned factory symbol of that period:
I remember some news some time ago about the idea of doing something with this unsafe building but now I can find no trace of it.

The imposing construction, intended to celebrate the alliance between Tsar Alexander III of Russia and French President Marie François Sadi Carnot, is in Art Nouveau style and is richly decorated. Un ponte di Rio visto dalla nave. Questa immagine è nota probabilmente solo a chi è stato a Rio de Janeiro con una nave: infatti da un lato si vede la città, con sullo sfondo il Cristo Redentor, mentre dall’altro c’è il mare con questa veduta… Non certo idilliaca ma particolare!
