Uno scorcio sotto i portici del centro storico di Chiavari.
Mi piace sempre molto fotografare i portici di Chiavari e, tutte le volte che vado, cerco sempre un angolo nuovo per scattare qualche foto.

The architectural layout remained unchanged until the late sixteenth century; from that time onwards new noble palaces were built within the walls in the contemporary Renaissance style. The choice of the new architectural style was especially evident in the main streets Ravaschieri and Stefano Rivarola where palaces very similar to other buildings in Genoa were erected or revised. From 1648, or perhaps from 1646, it received the title of City from the Republic of Genoa.

Da sotto i portici della piazzetta di Portofino.
Quando si ha la possibilita’ di visitare Portofino in inverno ci si accorge di come la sua bellezza sia quella dei classici borghi marinari liguri, un poco riservati e solitari. Tutta altra storia quando e’ assalita dai turisti.

Dal tempo del grande afflusso di ospiti stranieri – dapprima britannici e quindi tedeschi – nei primi anni del Novecento l’economia di Portofino è strettamente legata al turismo. La locale “Piazzetta” sulla quale si affacciano i locali pubblici di ristoro, negozi, boutique e altre attività commerciali è stata nel luglio del 2012 riconosciuta come Locale storico d’Italia, primo e unico attestato rilasciato dall’omonima associazione, per il suo valore storico e culturale.

Il sagrato con i risseu in piazza Caprera a Santa Margherita Ligure.
La bella piazza Caprera con il sagrato in risseu (i ciottoli rotondi, solitamente bianchi e neri) della chiesa di Nostra Signora della Rosa. A fare da cornice alla piazza gli altrettanto belli portici che in un tratto sono anche decorati con affreschi molto carini.

Uno vicolo colorato della città di Padova

A colorful alley in the city of Padua.
Walking through the city of Padua I walked along this beautiful alley with its arcades and it reminded me a lot of the Ligurian alleys that are so familiar to me.
To tell the truth, Padua has a lot of arcades and I discovered that it is the second largest European city for these.

The porticos in the centre of Padua extend for approximately 25 km,[29] placing Padua in second place behind Bologna, which has a network of porticos as extensive and branched as any other in Europe.[30] The construction of porticos in the city is an ancient tradition, and some can be found in Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Neoclassical and modern styles.

I portici moderni di Corso Assarotti a Chiavari.
I famosi portici di Chiavari sono sicuramente quelli del centro storico della cittadina ligure. Quelli del Caruggio Dritto, di via Rivarola e di via Vittorio Veneto.
Ma in tutto il centro ci sono dei bei porticati, ovviamente più moderni di quelli prima menzionati, che sono comunque molto belli.
Come questi che si affacciano su Corso Assarotti, una delle vie più trafficate della città.

I portici di via Nuova Italia a Lavagna

I portici di via Nuova Italia a Lavagna.
Non sono estesi come quelli di Chiavari ma anche a Lavagna c’è una bella serie di bei portici.
Questi, per esempio, sono quelli di via Nuova Italia la via carrabile parallela al caruggio che taglia in due la cittadina rivierasca.

A portico in Varese Ligure photographed in black and white.
I think it's been years since I took this photo in the village of Varese Ligure and I've never had the chance to publish it.
It represents one of the many porticos of the famous round square in the center of the village (also called Borgo Rotondo).

Here's where the town is located:

Borgo Rotondo in the historic center of Varese. Commissioned by the Fieschi family for the control and defense of the Varese territory, it is made up of identical stone houses arranged along the perimeter which, with an elliptical shape, enclose the two main squares (Piazza Fieschi and Piazza Castello), where the commercial activities, warehouses and laboratories were located in the underlying porticoes.

I portici di via Garibaldi a Chiavari.
Passeggiando per la bella cittadina della Riviera ligure famosa per i portici non si rimane impressionati solo per quelli più antichi e piccoli presenti nel carrugio ma anche per quelli pi’ moderni nelle altre parti della città.
Come questi, più alti e regolari di Corso Garibaldi.
