The image of the Madonna Achiropita of Rossano.
Before visiting this church I didn't know what achiropita meant. Well, it means that it is an image not painted by the hand of man.
This icon is located inside the Cathedral of Rossano, in Calabria, painted on a column that over time was incorporated into the cathedral.
She is the protector of the city!

The history of Achiropita is linked to the legend of the hermit monk Efraim who in the year 570 AD in a field near a cave (San Nicola in Vallone area) found a miraculous image of the Virgin and from there the cult began.
