La citta’ di Rapallo vista dall’alto.
Da questa foto scattata dalle alture che arrivano fino al Santuario di Montallegro si vede la grande urbanizzazione di questa città che ha persino portato a creare un nuovo termine: rapallizazione.

Zone pressoché primitive o sfruttate precedentemente in diversi usi (agricolo soprattutto) furono in breve tempo “sostituite” da nuovi insediamenti abitativi. Il fenomeno prese il nome di “rapallizzazione”, e tale sviluppo urbano subì ben presto l’interessamento e l’intervento di alcuni dei più famosi intellettuali ed urbanisti dell’epoca, tra questi Indro Montanelli, che segnalarono ai media la situazione che si stava creando nella cittadina ligure.

Rapallo e Santa Margherita dall’alto.
Dal sentiero che porta al Santuario di Montallegro si può godere di una vista eccezionale sul Golfo del Tigullio.
Si vede benissimo il porticciolo di Rapallo e quello di Santa Margherita oltre che le due bellissime cittadine.
Quando ero stato a fare il sentiero (da Chiavari) avevo scattato veramente tante foto che piano piano vi pubblico.

Il porticciolo turistico di Rapallo fotografato dalle alture del sentiero che va al Santuario di Montallegro.
La giornata non era proprio nitidissima e le foto ne risentono un pochino.

La scalinata del Santuario di Montallegro.
Arrivando al Santuario sopra a Rapallo si deve affrontare un bel sentiero che termina in una bella e ripida scalinata.

Considered one of the main Marian sanctuaries in the metropolitan area of Genoa and Liguria, it was built by the people of Rapallo between 1557 and 1558, together with the adjoining shelter for pilgrims, after the apparition of the Virgin Mary on 2 July 1557 to the farmer Giovanni Chichizola. The current marble façade dates back to the renovation carried out by the Milanese architect Luigi Rovelli in 1896, and inaugurated with a solemn ceremony on 21 June of that year.

La Torre Civica di Rapallo

La Torre Civica di Rapallo.
Una veduta di Rapallo dalla discesa del sentiero di Montallegro con al centro la imponente Torre Civica (1443) annessa alla Chiesa di Santo Stefano.
Non credo di avere mai notato questa torre eretta al centro di una zona che ospita anche l’edificio della Confraternita dei Bianchi.

La maggiore e la più importante tra le antiche torri della città, la Torre civica è un’opera strutturale del 1473. Secondo le fonti storiche la sua edificazione fu voluta dei nobili cittadini per simboleggiare la pace tra gli abitanti del borgo dopo un secolo sconvolto da lotte intestine e di potere tra le maggiori fazioni cittadine dell’epoca medievale.

The city of Rapallo seen from the hills behind
There are really a lot of houses (it is no coincidence that the term rapallization was coined) but it is enough to climb a little on the heights and you are already immersed in the olive trees.
Like the first photo I am inserting in this post, taken in the last kilometers of the path that took me from Chiavari to the Sanctuary of Montallegro and then finished the walk in the coastal town.
What a nice view!

The icon of the Sanctuary of Montallegro

The icon of the Sanctuary of Montallegro
One of the most beloved places of worship in my area, and perhaps in my region, is the Sanctuary of Montallegro, on the heights of Rapallo.
The symbol and emblem of this place is the effigy that according to legend was found in the spot where the apparition to the Rapallo farmer took place.
The original effigy is still in the sanctuary, in the photo, protected by angels.

Il sentiero per il Santuario di Montallegro a Rapallo.
Nelle ultime settimane, come a tanti altri, sono diventato un amante del trekking.
La mia fortuna è che nella mia zona il Tigullio ligure, ci sono molti bellissimi sentieri da percorrere.
Così la settimana scorsa sono andato, assieme a qualche amico, a fare quello che parte da Chiavari, passa dal Santuario delle Grazie, va al Santuario di Montallegro e poi termina a Rapallo.
Proprio un bel giro di una 15ina di kilometri con qualche tratto (specialmente quello iniziale) veramente tosto.
Vi lascio solo un paio di foto qui: la prima è della strada che da Montallegro va a Rapallo e che io ho percorso discesa; la seconda è di uno dei tanti tratti del sentiero.
