In the centre of Chiavari, right where the straight alley crosses Corso Garibaldi, there is the monument dedicated to the "Hero of the Two Worlds" with the inscription that remembers his father who was from Chiavari:

A significant figure of the Risorgimento, he was one of the most celebrated historical figures of his time. He is also known as the "hero of two worlds" for his military exploits in both Europe and South America.
