The reclining Buddha in Bangkok.
One of the most famous attractions in Bangkok is definitely the reclining Buddha. Obviously I couldn't miss seeing it and photographing it. Despite its grandeur, and the fact that it is covered in gold, it is the details that are most impressive: the hair (which I will write a separate post about), and the feet (and toes). Equally famous is the path of bowls, behind the statue, in which you have to insert a coin without missing any to have good luck.

Wat Pho is a Buddhist temple complex located in the Phra Nakhon District of central Bangkok, Thailand. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the Grand Palace. Also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, its official name is Wat Phra Chettuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram Ratchaworamahawihan and it is famous, in addition to its majestic beauty, for being the birthplace of the first school of Thai massage.

Some statues of the Royal Palace in Bangkok.

The two that I inserted here are some statues outside one of the many temples of the Royal Palace, truly an indescribable spectacle.
These are the ornamental statues in the period of one of the many royal palaces.

Official residence of the kings of Thailand since 1785, construction of the palace began in 1782, at the beginning of the reign of Rama I, who moved the capital from nearby Thonburi to Bangkok. Over the years, the palace has been expanded several times, with the construction of new buildings, and modified by the demolition or restoration of obsolete buildings.

Per le strade della Thailandia si trova di tutto anche se il classico sono questi spiedini (oltre alle bancarelle di cibo vero e proprio) nei quali puoi provare di tutto: carne, dolci, frutta, insetti, pesce…

Pomegranate: a spectacular fruit with a thousand grains.
Not just strange food, in Thailand you can also find fruits that we also have… The only difference is that here on the street they squeeze them and sell you, for one euro, a bottle of very fresh and thirst-quenching juice.
The fruit itself, however, is truly a spectacle to see and photograph.

Pomegranate (Punica granatum, L.) is a plant belonging to the Punicaceae family (or Lythraceae according to the APG classification) and to the Punica genus, native to a geographical region that goes from Iran to the Himalayan area of northern India, and present since ancient times in the Caucasus and in the entire Mediterranean scrub. The fruit is called pomegranate and has been cultivated for many millennia.

Insetti da gustare.
Come vi avevo detto inizio a mettere la foto del primo tipo di insetto, pronto da mangiare. L’aspetto del vassoio stuzzica o no l’appetito grazie a quella decorazione floreale!!!
Bacherozzi fritti!

L’utilizzo di insetti nella dieta umana è stato particolarmente importante in epoca preistorica prima che gli uomini scoprissero la caccia e l’agricoltura come testimoniano, ad esempio, alcuni coproliti rinvenuti in Messico e Stati Uniti e contenenti tracce di formiche, larve di coleottero, pidocchi, zecche e acari. Nell’ambito dell’entomofagia si possono distinguere due categorie: gli insetti utilizzati come fonte primaria di sostanze nutritive e di insetti utilizzati come condimenti. Alcuni insetti sono poi mangiati come larve, mentre altri da adulti.

Dragon fruit per colazione in Thailandia

Dragon fruit for breakfast in Thailand.
Vi avevo promesso un foto del frutto del drago aperto, ed è poi questo il suo aspetto migliore da fotografare, ed eccolo.
Per colazione, in Thailandia, è frequentissimo trovare un bel cabaret di frutta tropicale e sicuramente una delle più invitanti è questa.
Quindi eccovi un piatto di frutto del drago pronto per una bella scorpacciata!

Selenicereus undatus (Haw.) D.R.Hunt è una pianta succulenta della famiglia delle Cactaceae. Il suo frutto è conosciuto come frutto del drago (adattamento dell’inglese dragon fruit), pitahaya o pitaya. Questo ultime termine si applica anche ad altri frutti simili (per esempio quelli dei cactus Stenocereus). La pianta viene anche coltivata a solo scopo ornamentale. Per via della sua fioritura questa pianta viene anche chiamata regina della notte.
