The Castle of Rapallo

Il Castello di Rapallo

Rapallo Castle.
It is the symbol of the coastal town and you cannot miss it while walking along the seafront.
It was built by the Doge of Genoa to defend the town from the Saracens and in particular from the famous (in our area) pirate Dragut during the Middle Ages.

The castle on the sea is a defensive position in Rapallo, in the metropolitan city of Genoa, built to defend the body of water near the Vittorio Veneto seafront. It is also called a medieval castle with an incorrect definition since the construction dates back only to the second half of the 16th century.

One of the most beautiful and well-known buildings in Piazza Maggiore in Bologna is the one called Re Enzo.
This is its beautiful tower which, like many buildings in the Emilian city, is made of red bricks.

It was built between 1244 and 1246 at the behest of the podestà Filippo Ugoni as an extension of the municipal buildings of the Palazzo del Podestà (together with the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo) and for this reason called Palatium Novum, but its historical events have always linked it to the figure of King Enzo of Sardinia.

The Civic Tower of Rapallo.
One of the symbols of Rapallo is its splendid Civic Tower, the tallest building in the coastal town, built next to the church (pieve) of Santo Stefano, of which it mistakenly appears to be the bell tower.

The largest and most important of the ancient towers of the city, the Civic Tower is a structural work from 1473. According to historical sources, its construction was commissioned by the noble citizens to symbolize peace among the inhabitants of the village after a century shaken by internal and power struggles between the major city factions of the medieval era.

La Torre Grimaldina a Genova

La Torre Grimaldina a Genova.
Dall’alto di castelletto si ha una vista incredibile su tutta Genova e scattare foto, quando si va verso il tramonto, è uno spettacolo.
In questo caso il soggetto principale e più evidente è la bella Torre Grimaldina che fa parte del complesso di Palazzo Ducale, le cui campane furono fuse per realizzare dei cannoni.

La torre è composta da sette piani, i quattro inferiori compresi all’interno di palazzo Fieschi mentre i tre superiori si innalzano al di sopra del palazzo. Il primo piano presenta il bugnato che ricopre tutto il livello inferiore del palazzo Fieschi e una recente finestra rettangolare.

Una bella villa con torre a Sestri Levante

Una bella villa con torre a Sestri Levante.
Mi è sempre piaciuta quella villa con la torre annessa che fino da quando ero bambino ed andavo a praticare judo nella palestra di Santo Stefano del Ponte era lì.
Non so se sia una costruzione antica o abbastanza recente.
Credo anche di sapere chi la abitava ma non mi va di scriverlo per riservatezza.
Molto bella comunque.

Il campanile di Giotto del duomo di Firenze.
Non si può andare a Firenze e non passare a vedere la cattedrale (Santa Maria del Fiore) con il suo famoso campanile.
I colori di tutta l’opera sono un caleidoscopio di colori del marmo: bianco soprattutto e poi verde e rosso.

L’impronta giottesca è soprattutto evidente nel pittoricismo del raffinatissimo rivestimento in marmi bianchi (provenienti dalle cave di Campiglia Marittima e Pietrasanta), verdi (serpentino di Prato) e rossi (Monsummano Terme, Siena, Stazzema), e soprattutto nel grandioso ciclo figurativo che adorna il basamento del campanile.

Una delle più classiche foto che si possono scattare visitando il bellissimo castello alle spalle del centro storico di Genova è di questo bel porticato (forse un loggione) che conduce alla splendida torre circolare.

C’è anche il sito ufficiale all’interno del portale museidigenova.it.

Il castello D’Albertis è una dimora storica di Genova, sede del Museo delle culture del mondo e del Museo delle musiche dei popoli. Fatto edificare nel 1886 su di un antico bastione delle Mura trecentesche dal capitano di mare Enrico Alberto D’Albertis, il castello è oggi una delle case-museo più apprezzate del capoluogo ligure.

Passeggiano lungo la splendida e famosa passeggiata Anita Garibaldi, poco prima di arrivare a Nervi, si trova questa bella torre di avvistamento in mattoni.
Soggetto immancabile di quasi tutti i passeggiatori e turisti!

La cinquecentesca torre che ospita oggi alcune associazioni (Lega Navale e Alpini del quartiere) era nota invece con il nome di “torre del fieno”, per via del combustibile usato per produrre segnali di fumo e comunicare a tutto il litorale gli avvistamenti di pirati e nemici.

Sestri Levante Island and Marconi Tower.
A splendid photo of the Island of Sestri Levante (which in reality has been a Peninsula for decades) and on the top the famous tower from which Guglielmo Marconi carried out his first radio experiments.
The photo was taken from Ciappa du Lù, an enormous and almost flat rock that is just before Punta Manara and which can be reached from the path of della Mandrella.
